Hi fellows.

Here is satirical song I wrote before asking advice on mixing smile I
tried fixing it, but it is still all over the frequencies, as I started "fixing
process" way into the project. My time on music is limited, so I will
leave it as is for time being and maybe come back to it one day.

Band:
921: Bass Acoustic
1903: Guitar, Acoustic, Rhytm Bolero
RealDrums: BossaTerryClarke
612: Pedal Steel, Background
2355: Sax,Baritone, Background StraightBluesGary
2014: Sax,Alto, Soloist CountryTrainMark
2460:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm NewAgeAlbertiMoody

lyrics:
Wind is dragging silver clouds,
like a magical tug boat,
I am sitting on a couch,
Touching gently my remote

Welcome to Virtual Reality,
Artificial thinking
Don't snooze for too long
Life might pass by
before your eyes go blinking

Birds are chirping on the trees,
Sun is coming out.
I am saddened by the fact
That internet is down

Welcome to Virtual Reality,
Artificial thinking..
Don't snooze for too long
Life might pass by
before your eyes go blinking

Spring had sprung , girls throw looks
Eyes are full of luster
I am scanning my hard drive
searching for bad clusters.

Welcome to Virtual Reality,
Artificial thinking...
Don't snooze for too long
Life is passing by... life is passing by.

Fun & funny but a sad reality.
I'm glad I grew up in a a world that kicked kids out of the house until dinner time.
I think the mix is pretty good. I'll have to listen more critically but it seemed good.
I enjoy the way you allow yourself the room and give yourself permission to use you voice VERY expressively.
The scatting was cool too.
I enjoyed the clever word play of "...lu lustering" and "...blink blinking".
Nice work Rustyspoon.

You write the most interesting songs!

Very well done, nice production with your mix of instruments and the way you are bringing them in and out, clever.

Mix is not bad either, maybe the vocal could come down a couple of db but that is a personal taste thing.

Good stuff!

What an interesting, and engaging tune! Loved the vocal deliver on this - very unique and attention-grabbing. I liked the subject matter and lyricism too. That aside, musically it is just the right level of catchy.

Good work here and thanks for sharing smile

The arrangement is very nice, sounds like from the last century, but the lyrics are fresh and funny. So, difficult to categorize. Actually reminds me of those scifi movies where in the middle of the modern world there is always some small shop selling old fashioned stuff, analog devices etc.

My favourite lines in a song full of quirky humour- which your very free vocal delivers in a way that made me sit up!
An original cautionary tale ; very much enjoyed.

Hi Misha,

What a nice song and composition! I truly enjoyed listening to that. I like your choice of instruments, it worked really well.

I agree with Dave - if your vocal were just 2 db lower it would "glue" better with the rest of the mix. Also I think you fade out a bit too quickly, maybe do it over 4 or 8 bars next time. But - as Dave wrote - this is just a matter of personal taste.

I'm looking forward to your next project!
Will

Hi Misha,

I love it! The subtle humor, the instrument selection - everything is great. I really enjoy and appreciate the originality of your music. You have a unique and very entertaining style. I didn't find any real issues with the mixing - perhaps the vocal is just a wee bit loud. Regardless, I enjoyed my listening from beginning to end. best to you.

Alan

Misha.. instead of duplicating all of the positive comments that have already been posted, I want to say that I really appreciate your attention to detail in the arrangement. You used lots of different elements in the musical mix.

In this type of song, which focuses on a clever lyric, you could have gotten away with simply repeating the musical background for each verse, but you didn’t do that! You made the musical track very interesting, so that, even if you took the vocal away, it would have a high degree of interest.

Kudos on a fun and well constructed piece of music!

Will,
Thank you! Got it, vocals 2db quieter. Thank you for reminding about fading out / endings. You are totally right. I guess I need somebody with a whip to stand by me when I try to finalize arrangement and softly remind me that ending is too short smile

Alan,
thank you! I am grateful for your input as it seems to me you have a feel for all kinds of music genres.

Tangmo,
Thanks! I wish I can write lyrics as good as yours. Should not have skipped classes in HS smile

Tano,
thank you for the creative comment and especially the "elements" one! I dig what you are saying! Especially now, after hearing "Day of the Dead".

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
