According to this data analysis of trends in popular music over the last two decades - songs have become shorter, slower, and sadder yet more danceable with wordier lyrics. Mainstream pop trended up as country trended down. Interesting read.

What comes around goes around.
I'd have liked to see the trend line start further back than the year 2000. I recall the 60's were famous for lots of 2:30 hits. So... it was short, got longer, then ..... repeat....
Rap is the most popular music? Really? I must be really, really far out of the loop..... but yep.... it is permeating country music now..... so I recon it is.

Got to say, this really didn't surprise me all that much. Maybe it's because I listen to a lot of modern music - hip hop/rap music really is everywhere. It is certainly at a popularity peak, in that the vast majority of young listeners take to it. Myself included. I was surprised that country is in 3rd though. I was expecting EDM to be for sure. Most of my friends and family aren't country music fans, but that might just be due to where I live. The west coast of Canada surprisingly isn't known for it's country music (that is sarcasm). All around a really interesting article. Makes me wonder what lies in the future for music. Thanks for sharing

I think a large part of rap/hiphop has adapted/changed over the years - like adding more actual singing. I could be wrong, but without those changes I don't think it would still be as broadly popular as it is or to have become part of so many other genres. Hey Matt, I'm glad we've still got a misc.

This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
