Dear James...

I'll think I'll take the liberty of subtitling "Day Out" as "Time Machine", because it pulled me back into the musical sound of the 70's!

It's got a snappy, upbeat rhythm, courtesy of the Real style you employed, and the trumpet melody is bright, lively, and has a sunrise feel to it. I think you must have worked on the trumpet part quite closely, particularly in the way you handled the subtle volume changes in your attack and release curves, because it approaches the sound of the actual instrument in a surprising number of places throughout the composition.

I never visited the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in San Francisco, but I believe you definitely channeled the aura of the place and time that it captured the public's attention -- if that's what you were attempting to do, that is.

Carry on your merry, musical way, James. i'll be happy to tag along!!!

Looking up,

LOREN
