Seeing ctrlr reminds me that I use to set up control panels for midi devices in the original Cakewalk. And yes, I'm pretty sure I could use a DAW such as CW or Ableton Live, but I'd have to render each of my BIAB files and insert SYSex at appropriate points.

I use BIAB live (mostly jazz-based restaurant type gigs) as great sounding backing tracks with chord-sheets that real-time indicate measure and scroll, all on a small laptop. Simple. No charts to keep up with, no audio tracks to manage. And BIAB has been sufficiently stable to do this for many years.

BIAB as is does a fair job (I know of none better) serving this live-use niche. Would be nice if someone focused more on this.
