Is anybody else having problem with the computer locking up when you try to open the style picker in BIAB? first patch applied. 32 bit version. Win 10 (haven't skipped any updates)
It doesn't happen in RB, just BIAB. I checked for hidden dialog boxes, but there are none. I walked away for about 30 minutes to see if maybe it was just taking a long time to rebuild the style database but when I came back it was still hung. (plays that chime sound every time I try to press a key.. only way out is CTRL-ALT-DEL)
Thoughts anyone?

Pat, it sounds as though the Style Picker has raised a dialog that is sitting behind the main screen but has focus.
Does pressing <Enter> or <Escape> do anything? Often a dialog behind the main form which is waiting for input actually has focus, and if it is waiting on a button press, pressing Enter sometimes works.

Trev Pressing ENTER or ESC does unlock the computer, but it doesn't get me to the style picker. I can access partial style lists (favorites, for example) but both the main menu and menu bar ways of accessing the style picker lead to the same dead end (chime plays when I press any key, and no list of styles appears) Pressing ALT-TAB cycles through any open programs or dialog boxes, which has helped me out in the past when there was a hidden dialog box. In this case it yields nothing, and ALT-TAB doesn't show anything else active

Annoying. Sometimes other than Return to Factory settings, I just do a reinstall of the program again, leaving out all the other stuff that does seem to be working ok.

Thank goodness for you early adapters. Always on the bleeding edge of new releases. What would we do without you. All we can do is thank you for your service.

Also reinstalling both the main program and the first patch didn't fix it. I tested after each of those installations. I had just reinstalled 2018 two days ago to make sure everything worked before reinstalling a new version, and it didn't do this. Any other ideas? Maybe somebody from PGMusic?

just re-downloaded the installer in case it might have been corrupted in DL.. reinstalled the fresh DL and the problem is still there. Surely somebody else would be talking about this if everybody was having the same problem.. but I can't think of any reason why *I* would be having it, since 2018 worked OK. But I do recall seeing that there were changes made to the style picker, and apparently my computer doesn't like them

At one stage during a rebuild operation, the StylePicker went behind the main BiaB page and I could not bring it to the front. Eventually I found I could minimize it and then expand it again and it came to the front. It only happened once though.

Pat, try this. Before launching the StylePicker, resize BiaB to much smaller and drag it to the very left or right etc of the screen. Then launch StylePicker. If it is bringing up a modal dialog that needs interaction, that might now be visible on the screen. HTH. Trev

If it is bringing up a modal dialog that needs interaction, that might now be visible on the screen. HTH. Trev Seems like a reasonable thing to try... so I did~! But... still the same story. :-( I made it really small, postage stamp sized, and moved it off to a remote corner. In fact I tried all 4 corners on the chance the dialog might be appearing where I had the main window. But each time I got the chimes when I pressed any key, and no style picker ever showed up. Bummer. My main music computer is a windows 7 machine.. I bet it works there. I'll wait for the hard drive to arrive before installing it there. That PC is offline. I hope somebody from PG Music sees this post and figures it out because I'd hate to go back to 2018. But if I do reinstall 2018 on this machine... I'm guessing all the new realtracks will work... so I haven't wasted my money. I mostly upgrade for the realtracks anyway.

Pat, I've been following this but I haven't seen anything in testing that would have been helpful, other than what Videotrack has been helping you do. Give Support a try tomorrow.

It would be helpful to know if I'm the only one having this problem. Seems like a lot of people have been refusing to accept the windows 10 updates, but I've accepted everything. Maybe its a windows thang.

I'm on the very latest Windows 10 with all updates, and I haven't experienced that issue. I don't think it's the O/S. I think the StylePicker is launching something that needs attention. Am I correct to say that it is only when launching the StylePicker that this occurs? Does selecting the RealTracks picker give any issue?

So do the dialogs for loops, user tracks, real drums etc. only the style picker chokes.

I just installed the whole PG 64bit caboose, 2019 v 602 AP NEW. Apart from some buggies (like VST64bit not doing what i think it should) i found all quite stable, and the style picker refreshing with all the user styles collected over the years being quite slow, but there seem no Stylepicker problems.
Maybe a graphics issue om youw PC?: With windows 10 you never know whats up. I have 64bit pro 1803, BTW was told to tay away from 1809(6?), and switched off automatic windows updates, with a tool to make sure it stays off. Updated all the VCbasics both 32bit ANd 64bit, and DotNET 4.72. Can also be your graphics card drivers, as Microsoft changed stuff in Windows once again influencing those .... F

Hmmm... I just remembered this is the same computer that used to have 2 monitors, but now only has one.
I had already noted that RB would not un-minimize (or so it seemed... I could see it was open in the system tray, but couldn't get it to show itself.) In that case I finally determined that it had been dragged to the other monitor the last time the program was open, and when I reopened it with only one monitor, it still remembered it wasn't supposed to appear on the primary monitor.
I now have to wonder if the style picker is opening... but "on the other monitor".
Easy enough to test. I'll just hook up another monitor and see if I get my style picker back. Will post my results as soon as I've tested.
------ update: when I tried to remove the computer from under the desk, I lost control of it and it fell over. Now it won't start at all. So, I guess I don't need to worry about getting BIAB working on this machine after all.

Hi Pat,
I'm pretty sure the StylePicker was on the other monitor, that was my first thought.
If you can get the computer to run again, and don't feel like connecting the other screen, I have a feeling deleting mysetup.dk and intrface.bbw from BB\Preferences while BIAB is closed would reset its position.
Thanks Kent PG Music

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
