Just curious as I rough out a song in BIAB then finish in RB (or PowerTracks).

Possible issues are using the built in 64 bit soft synth in BIAB and not having it available in RB?

Or using jbridge in BIAB to use my 32 bit soft synths coyote forte and edirol hypercanvas - will jbridge automatically work in RB too?

Of course I could stick to 32 bit BIAB 2019 and as a post in the BIAB forum points out I probably won't miss much - but I would like to try out the new built in 64 bit GM synth.

Any advice?

I've read somewhere that 2019 RealBand is a 32 bit program. PowerTracks Pro is still 2018 so I'm sure it remains 32 bit.

On my computer running Windows 7 64 bits, the operating system views Band-in-a-Box 32 bit and Band-in-a-Box 64 bit as two, distinct programs. However, both programs save the exact, same Band-in-a-Box files.

During installation, the Band-in-a-Box installer creates a sub-folder at "X:bb\Songs" where X = your BiaB installation hard drive letter. So, if you open both programs and save song files to the common location you should be able to use the 64 bit soft synth in the 64 bit BiaB without resorting to jBridge. Render the tracks to WAV. In RealBand, import both the song file and track renders. You can use Edirol HyperCanvas and Coyote Forte in the 32 bit BiaB or RB. The best of both worlds.

Well... Looking at how well the 64-bit BIAB VST with Studio One, if PG's own DAW can't deliver at the same level, it's kinda an admission of, so to speak, defeat, isn't it? Specially with FREE, 64-bit DAWs like Tracktion 7 and specially Cakewalk by Bandlab, which both allow 3rd party plug-ins with full function.

I wouldn't be surprised if PG would "drop the ball" in R&D for Real Band and/or Power Tracks, unless they have a complete overhaul project for 2020, maybe somehow incorporating RB in BIAB, keeping the same UI and functionality across both programs?

Inquiring minds would like to know. cool

There is a 3rd party involved with RB and PT. Jeff Yankeur is the developer of PT.
History has it that those progs will follow as 64bit.

Please no.

RB and BiaB are 2 different programs, please don't try to make them one.
I'm all for improving them both but I don't want them the same.

I agree also. I am a big Biab user but I rarely use RB. If PGMusic merged the two it would be the end of me using their products. YMMV

I would like to see improvements in RB, but I hope BB and RB are never merged.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread so severely. Sorry OP

As far as your question, I am able to run the new Synthfont64 in RB (I do have JBridge so maybe that is why?)

The image below shows I went even further and loaded a different sound font inside the VST, so it's not the default sound font and may appear different than yours, but the synth does seem to run in RB.
You should be able to open the Synthfont VST in RB as part of your work flow, and if you leave the default font I think you'll be fine. I just like to tinker with stuff.

/Hey, they gave me something with interchangeable parts to tinker with, so I interchanged some parts smile

That's quite a bold statement for a power user like yourself, Mario. May I ask you to elaborate on the scenario that would get you to drop BIAB altogether, if RB is "assimilated" (so to speak, also considering the other negative posts on the subject)?

If BiaB and RB were merged and the outcome was more like RB then BiaB I would be through using PGMusic products. Personally I do not like the way RB is configured. I have used other DAWs with no problems and RB always seems to throw me and IMHO it is a bit of a throw back in the world of DAWs. THIS IS NO PUT DOWN ON THOSE WHOM HAVE MASTERED AND USE RB, it is just not my cup of tea or workflow.

Note that I am not a real power user. I mostly take MIDI tracks from BiaB, drag n drop them into Studio One, and do all of my work there. If I have a client singer I will do the same except with RTs. I really don't dig deep into BiaB.

YMMV

PS - Maybe in a few years you can call me the world's biggest hypocrite!

Ok, now that I get where you're coming from, then I totally understand.

You're not alone with this sentiment, Mario.

You're way too modest, Mario. For the record, I too am a Studio One user, and I became one mostly because of RB's shortcomings, I must say.

Nobody that changed his/her mind because of reasoning could ever be called hypocrite.

Anyway, if in the future an integrated BIAB/RB results in being more BIAB than RB, I would consider having and keeping. And, of course, keeping Studio One as well. I don't think RB will ever be a contender for Studio One anyway. wink

Thank you for taking the time to respond, Mario. Much appreciated!

Yours very truly,

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
