I've been getting this for a while in both 32 and 64 bit versions. It only happens when Biab has been sitting open and idle for less than a half hour I think but I've never actually timed it. I was hoping the last patch would have fixed it but it didn't. Just now I was visiting a neighbor for 20-30 minutes and there it is.
Check your Windows operating system power settings. By default Windows will place different hardware into a sleep, hibernate or low power mode after some period of time of inactivity. You may have to dig deep into some hardware settings or create a custom power scheme to defeat all the built in Windows power saving settings.
This system is about 3 years old and I've never even looked at any of those settings. This just started a week or so ago.
I will check that out, maybe a Windows update changed something. Still, why is it only Biab? Nothing else does this. I've had browsers, email, tax programs, video programs and other music programs open literally all day.
I hate the way Windows broadly applies settings no matter the hardware. Windows will let you defrag a SSD, trim a mechanical hard drive and go into some goofy laptop power saving mode on a desktop. It is what it is.
It took me awhile to find all the power setting features on my desktop. Even after I found them all I continued to have an issue with a Hewlett Packard monitor shutting down after a period of non use. I finally discovered the monitor had its own power settings in addition to the computer operating system power settings. I had to download and install a HP device management program to access the internal settings and turn off the screen saver mode.
It takes a long time for something to nag at me so much that I'm frustrated enough to actually do something about it.
Bob, since it just started happening on a stable system, I would agree you should look carefully at your power settings, which could have been changed. One culprit could be the USB suspend after 20 minutes.
Anyone using music software should create a custom power profile in Windows, and check it frequently.

To update this, after my trip and getting that virus that's been going around for two weeks, I've been working with Biab built 615 all weekend. Most of the time it's been fairly continuous with no big gaps but yesterday a friend came over and I let it sit unused for a couple hours and I get that error again. I did a little testing and it seems to pop up at around the 20-30 minute mark. I did go into power settings and I found the hard drive hibernate mode was set to 20 minute so I changed it to an hour. As for the USB the only thing I found was hibernate is either enabled or disabled, I didn't see any actual time settings. Late yesterday I went out for a few hours and before I left I had Biab up but untouched for over an hour and no error but it was there when I got back so somewhere between an hour and 3 hours it happened. That's progress so I think you guys are correct it's something to do with the power settings. The thing is it only happened the beginning of December and no other apps seem to be affected.
And, haha for the first time in my experience I seem to be the outlier with this. Nobody but me is reporting this. Gee, do I get a cookie?
