Just installed BIAB 2019 (by the way, is it too difficult to automatically add two icons -32 and 64 bits- when the installer finish???), the first thing I would like to try is the VST thing.

I've installed it on the right folder (where all my VST plugins are), launch Reaper and...program crash (it must be the first time Reaper get crashed, it's a solid rock program on my system).

Relaunch Reaper, this time everything seems OK, but the BIAB VST plugin simply don't show up on the Reaper's VST list. I've tried all the different options you have on Reaper (re-scan, clear cache, automatically detect VST plugins), but no luck.

I have many VSTi installed on the same folder, all of them working properly.

Any idea?

It it crashed on startup from scanning for new vsts it may of blacklisted the PG plugin, I think if you go to Options > show resource path and look for reaper-vstplugins.ini I think to un-blacklist it, but just google Reaper blacklist vst.
Check out ReaTrak it works with Biab and imports chord, regions etc..

I had no issues whatsoever. BB VSTi installed Into the Program Files - VstPlugins area which was already in the Reaper VST path.

Just a matter of selecting the VSTi from the PGMusic area in the Reaper plugins menu.

They may do that, but if you've already installed BIAB, it won't help you.
I just took the one icon that was installed:
R-click icon, select 'More', 'Open File Location'
Repeat til you arrive at BIAB main folder.
You will see the 32bit and 64bit exe files.

Create shortcuts for one or both on the desktop. Rename the shortcuts. (BIAB-64 and BIAB-32)
R-click & 'Pin to Start'
Delete Desktop shortcuts if you want.

I had to regenerate my VSTs in Reaper. Then up came the BIAB VST.

Hi Cerio,

The BIAB VST plugin worked fine for me in Reaper.

Is your VST plugins folder contained in C:\Program Files(x86) by any chance?

If it is, this will cause issues with the BIAB VST plugin. For this reason, I have the plugin located in the default directory of "C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins".

Regards,
Noel

I sure wish you early adapters would get this BB-VST and Reaper thing all figured out so when I purchase, it is smooth sailing for me. grin

I would sure hate to drop the $150 only to find out that I have to figure this all out myself and then explain to you smart guys how it works. grin Or, even worse, find out that everything I have been reading in the forum about the BB-VST is correct. crazy

Not only does it not show up in Reaper, it does not show up in Reason either. I an convinced there is a problem with the VST. I have reported it to support and they know there is a problem.

Thanks for that info. I am going to remove that from the list of vsts and see what happens.

Thank you for the ideas.

I've tried everything, the plugin simply doesn't show up on Reaper for some reason.

I have to say that I've been using Reaper for years, I know the procedure well, and I have installed lots of VST without problems.

Really frustrating...

PS: regarding the shortcuts... I know it's not a problem at all, but since the 32/64 bits versions seems to be the main new feature for 2019, I was expecting the installer to create two shortcuts (with two different icons, also) automatically for the user.

Just an idea that would make things much easier (specially for newcomers)

Did you try the VST3 ? or make a copy of the VST2 with with a different name on the end and see if it loads.

Cerio,

I suggest using Windows File Explorer 'Search' function to locate the file "Band-in-a-Box DAW VST Plugin.dll" (on the C:\drive).

I would then delete that file (or files if it is in multiple locations).

Then, I would go into my account at PG Music and re-download the BIAB/Realband program .exe since this would be latest released version of the program and install it.

Lastly, when installed, I would check that the build of BIAB is #604 (the latest one). It should be but if it is not, I'd go to the Support page of this website and download and install that update.

Regards,
Noel

P.S Out of curiosity, what is the full path of your VST folder? During beta testing we were told that putting the BIAB plugin in any 32-bit folder would cause issues with the plugin.

Pipeline, I've tried both, and both are invisible for Reaper. I¡ve tried a copy of VST2 dll with a different name, but it doesn't work. I've re-scanned and cleared the cache in Reaper, but it doesn't work.

Noel, my default VST folder is C:\Program Files\VST Plugins. There are other VST plugins there working properly.

Also, I've tried all the other folders where I have VST plugins, but it didn't work.

I gave up on this one...

Did you trying buying a new PC and install Reaper and Biab on it....

Yea, not sure what's happening there, the column on the left is on "All"
another thing you can try is rename Band in a Box.dll to an existing VSTi 2 or 3 that's working and rename the working my-plug.dll.org now load the my-plug.dll

Before you do that, try unplugging the PC, count to 20 while you swing the power chord over your head in a clockwise motion, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Sorry, I coun'nt resist grin . Other than that I do feel your pain and I am routing for you guys to get all these bugs worked out before I jump in the water with BB19.

Cerio,

Do you run BIAB from your computer's internal hard drive or a USB drive?

Dan,

I just simply installed BIAB 2019, opened Reaper and used the plugin. There were no hiccoughs for me at all!

Noel

Did you check that your BIAB vst plugin is actually in that folder where all your other REAPER vsts are located?

I use REAPER and my vst was picked up immediately. I have the VST3 version available or the VST2.
