Working on Candle On The Water from Pete's Dragon(the original one)I know its twee but Iremembered it from being a kid and its a great melody to sing. SO-I have the SGU all done but the ending isnt going right.I set it to 2 bar endings and that is fine BUT the MST just doesnt fade,it keeps on blaring and then clunk-it stops dead at the end of the bar.No finesse.Huh! ANy ideas?I know I can fix it in my DAW but that isnt the point surely? See pic of screenshot Wendy

This problem has been reported several times here, affecting mainly Realtracks. I've found this many times in the past and the problem used to get solved trying a different chord as the final chord (for example, D instead of DMaj7)
Oh Cerio dont get me going on the appalling synth RTs!! Ichose to use 1801 which is an MST called "synthpad, pop shining soft EV120" because RT1265 which has an identical name is utterly disgraceful and I cant see how anyone could use it.I wondered at first if the RT was derived FROM the MST but they are TOTALLY different. Before I posted I subbed the final chord for all sorts of D varienats including Dmaj7, D6,D69 and so on.It doesnt care.lol.MST1801 doesnt do 7th at all or maj7th or anything fancy dancy,it just plays straight chords.I can work round that cos the other RTs DO play them(mostly). But its that horrid hanging synth in the last chord that is SO annoying.Easy to make it behave in DAW but WTH!! What a way to spend Saturday night!! Wendy

Gosh Pipeline. What AM I looking at?? Where is it, how do I find it and I guess you are making it fade but how? Ive never been into midi and got BB because of the RTs which so far have done the job so pardon the absolutely basic questions. Wendy

Be careful, you will discover the wonders that midi editing permits and not go back to the RT audio.
BIAB can be a fantastic tool, but can also be terribly frustrating.
I've just tried to find a realtrack with that problem also and I've found several, easily. I was going to report that well known bug in the wishlist forum, in the hope that it will be fixed maybe in BIAB 2025, but I don't have more energy today.
I think, I'm going to drink some beers and watch TV instead.

In Pipeline's excellent example, be sure to select 'Velocity' first from the drop-down menu (it should be set to Velocity by default)
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
What you are experiencing is due to how MIDI works. When A sustained note is played, it is either on or off. This is true for sounds like strings, organ, clarinet, trombone, etc.
Sounds like piano, guitar, etc., have decay attached to the end of the note so that it fades away.
= = = = =
My approach to solving your problem is similar to Pipeline's except I use "main volume control" on the single MIDI channel on which the MST is located.
In your case, this means that I would...
1. save the original file so that I can always return to it if needed and then work on a copy of that file
2. in chordsheet view, click on the ending bar and then enter into Piano Roll view (this should locate me at the ending bar in Piano Roll view)
3. set the MIDI channel to #7 (since this is the MIDI channel that corresponds to the location of your MST) -- this is #1 on the image below
4. select "Control" (#2 on image)
5. select "7 Main Volume MSB" (#3)
6. at the beginning of the ending bar (#4), left-click on the location shown by #5 below
7. drag the mouse to zero about a third of the way through the third bar in the ending region and release the mouse button.
This will give the effect you need and apply it only to the MST.
8. freeze the MST so that the changes are preserved

Appalling, a nice word close to appealing .... Maybe it's time for a poll, as done with those darn Videotracks?: ... What is your most appalling RT ?
As always, you got tons of stellar advice from everyone here.
That said, and if you find some of the tips here a tad overwhelming what with editing the velocity lines and what-not, something you should be aware of (and, to me, one of the first things you should learn about when starting to work with MIDI), is the concept of ADSR (attack, decay, sustain, release).
You see, even if the MIDI notes sustain at a contant velocity far longer than you want them to, the overwhelming majority of patches/presets on any soft-synth/VSTi you use on a track will not utilize infinite sustain. This means that the duration of the note will "trail off" regardless of the length of a MIDI note, and will terminate until a new note is played.
I would strongly suggest that you ditch the SFZ player, which, as far as I can tell (and I have searched SFZ player for this feature), does not contain ADSR envelopes, and instead experiment with various third-party plugins, of which there are a tremendous amount of excellent options available for free on the internet.
experiment with a variety

Well fellas, what a lot to digest.I'm going to put on my Schoolma'am reading glasses, print this lot off and have a good study.Im more of a hands on person(no comments pliz)but I already realsised early this year that I was missing out on a lot by ignoring midi as much as possible cos in the main RTs are SO easy to deal with and midi looks so hard. Is there such a thing as"Midi for Dummies"out there? Wendy PS - MY list of "what were they thinking" Duff RTs is growing but my current Hate is RT1265.Wheezes like an old man, jumps and jerks and sometimes even ocassionally plays the most weird bizarre chords using utterly randon notes. Thats why 1801(MST) was used.
