Have used bb for years with no major problem. Following problem with 2019 32 and 64 version. windows 10 desktop, MME, run as administrator, reset to default, 606 update.
When i record vocal first time on a new song no problem. Everything plays back. Saves wav and bt1 file.
When I record vocal on same song second time the song plays back the first recording. It saves a second wav file. If i play only the wav files one has the first recording and the other has the second recording.
When I record third time it plays back the first recording but the second wav file now has the third recording.
If I record more times it always plays back the first recording but the second wav file is always updated.
Sometimes (not often) after okaying new recording I get message "Error, file not found" and the song will play back but no vocal. The vocals are still on the first and second wav files.
I must be doing something wrong. Can anyone help

When you say "It plays back the first recording", is the first recording the sound of the backing as well as the sound of what's on the audio track?
If this is the case, I suspect that you have rendered (or saved) your BIAB song to an audio file. This is different from recording an audio track of a vocal or instrumental. If you have rendered your song-file to audio, this will get loaded each time the song is opened in BIAB.
From the audio track perspective, it's only possible to record a single track. Then, every time a new track is recorded, this gets overwritten. It is possible to 'punch-in' various corrections to the track (i.e. record set regions over the existing audio). This single audio track is what you seem to be referring to as the "second track" above.
To eliminate the rendered file, if it exists, have a look in the folder where the song-file is located. There will be a .WAV or .WMA (or even .MP3) file in that folder that has the exact same name as the song-file except for the extension .wav, .wma, or .mp3 instead of .SGU or MGU. If you locate this file, rename it and it will not get automatically picked up by BIAB when the song-file is opened.

Noel thanks for reply. I think i understand what you are saying but 2019 seems different from previous versions. I don't think I am rendering song.
i open new song from desktop called 'untitledsong.sgu'
I record vocal and everything plays back okay. there are 2 new files called 'tempmain.wav' and 'tempmain.bt1'.
I do not 'save'
i then record audio again and when I play the song back it plays the first recording. There are now 2 wave files called tempmain.wav and temp-rec.wav. If i play the wav files only I get the first and second audio recordings.
If I 'save' (I don't think this is render) the song then I get another file called 'untiitledsong.wav' If i play this as wave file it plays only the vocal and no backing track.
After clicking 'ok keep take' I am also occasionally getting 'error file not found' and one or more new files are made which is full of symbols and unusual characters.
I have windows 10 pro with bitlocker. When I see the characters and symbols I am wondering if there is an issue with bitlocker
