I have the Everything Audiophile version of BIAB 2010 and Real Band 2010. I’ve had a couple of days to play with the new releases and have noted several puzzling behaviors:

Problem Number one: I was excited about the possibility of being able to render a real track wav without using a synth since previous versions of BIAB demanded that I select a synth but then would never render a wav file for me after I did so. I always had to go to Real Band to get my wav files to use in SONAR in previous versions. I attempted to render a wav file from real tracks in 2010 and the program still demanded that I select a synth to use to do that. I did, but at least it actually rendered a wav file. That was progress or so I thought.

Problem Number Two: While my real tracks will render to wav files in BIAB 2010, Real Drums do not. It goes through the rendering process but no drum wav is produced.

Problem Number Three: In order to get my drum wav file, I open the BIAB song in Real Band 2010. I’m able to get my real drum file rendered in Real Band 2010 but discover that the Real Tracks that were generated in BIAB and assigned to the Melody and Soloist slots are identified as MIDI files in Real Band 2010 and the audio Data is not available. I discover that by opening the same BIAB song with Real Band 2009.5 that all is well and the real tracks assinged under Melody and Soloist can be rendered.

Problem Number four: After getting my rendered wav files imported into SONAR, I discover that the wav files that I rendered directly from BIAB have the ending chopped off. Endings from the tracks from the same song Rendered in Real Band do not have the endings chopped off. Because of this, I have to render all of my wav files in Real Band to have a usable track. This makes problem number three all the more disturbing since I can only get all 7 real tracks from one of my BIAB songs by using the older Real Band program.

Since I’m not hearing others complaining of these problems, I suspect this isn’t a program bug and that the little goblins that live in my desktop are doing this. Right now I’m able to work around this by doing my song first in BIAB and then my rendering in Real Tracks 2009.5 but I’m losing the benefit of rendering a wav in BIAB and having an updated Real Tracks program.

Just thought I would throw this out here to see if anyone else has seen this and if perhaps there might be a solution.
