I have recently received my 2019 Audiophile Band-in-a-Box, but I have hesitated to install due to a problem I have with my 2018 version. Although I am chomping at the bit to get the new program running, I would really like to clear this up before I install the new version.

The problem is that the Melody track is producing no sound. The notes light up in red and the volume meter in moving on the Mixer panel. All the other settings seem to be correct. This happens with any BiaB tune I select from my vast collection. I am using midi instruments and the melody instrument is normally a trombone, 'cause that is what I play. Actually, I do set that track to 'Mute' often because I use the rhythm section to play along with when I am practicing. It's almost like the Mute button for Melody is stuck on, but it is not showing as such. I have tried clicking the Mute button on and off but it makes no difference.

I do not know if this makes and difference but I should mention that I recently acquired a new computer and it had Kaspersky Internet Security installed. Every time I run the BiaB program a notice comes up which says:

"Band-in-a-Box Application run by a program with restrictions is attempting to receive audio stream

Process (PID: 9804):
E:\bb\bbw.exe

Group:
Low Restricted

Run sequence:
Band-in-a-Box Application

Allow now (This is shown in green)

Block now

Remember my choice for this sequence"

I have been clicking the Allow now box but have not ticked the "Remember my choice" box. Band-in-a-Box has been running fine for several weeks just clicking the "Allow now" green box.

I have absolutely no idea what this Kaspersky message is all about and do not know if it is associated with my problem.

I would be very grateful if someone could tell me how to fix my problem with the Melody track not playing. Or even if I should maybe go ahead with installing the new program and that the problem is unlikely to be passed on.

I will also mention that I am running Windows 10. My sound runs through an external Creative Sound Blaster and speakers which produce a superb sound.

As I have often said, I much prefer playing with Band-in-a-Box rather than some musicians I know. And it swings more!
