MARY'S BOY CHILD - My slightly jazzy rendition of this christmas classic, for the last advent sunday of the holidays - Enjoy!  Formalities: I honestly don't remember the exact details of the instrumentation, since this was done a couple of months ago (initially for someone else who then didn't use it), but the core style is clearly some version of the _BOLERO style, with bossa piano instead of the original, and accordion added for flavour.

How about the vibes? They sound sweet. Thanks... It's not me on the guitar, I'm afraid, Master Gannon took the stage there. All I contributed in terms of playing were the vibes. The choices of instruments & the chords progression is however all on me - but I guess that wasn't the question!

The spirit of Christmas is all about this forum, and the proof of that is your "take" on another seasonal evergreen, "Mary's Boy-Child".
One of the things that I have always found most exciting about music is the way musicians re-imagine classic songs by hearing them in the form of other genres. Your instrumental arrangement of "Mary's Boy-Child" is a superb example of this.
The medium-tempo "Latinization" of the tune transforms it into an islander's dream of the Christ's birth. The relaxed, sensual and colorful percussion sounds set against the languid electric guitar solo and the glowing vibraphone tones in the melody plant a whole new spirit into the song that is as relaxing as floating on the ocean at the height of a summer's noon. The accordion adds just right amount of romantic sweetness to the production.
"Icelander", you've given birth to a calmingly jazzy rendition of "Mary's Boy-Child". Thank you for it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, sir!

I agree, but like I mentioned before, that's all on Gannon's masterful talent - and it was even from a one-take recording! So I guess the only thing I can take credit for there is having the sense not to mess with it?!
