I frequently get an access violation message, whenever I a): launch BIAB from the desktop, or b): try too many styles when working with a song.

This is some of the message:

An exception error has occurred. You can continue to use the program, but should likely save your work and reboot program.

Access violation at address 0065F7B4 in module 'bbw.exe'. Read of address 00000369.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Exception log with detailed tech info. Generated on 26/12/2018 4:15:19 PM.
You may send it to the application vendor, helping them to understand what had happened.
Application title: Band-in-a-Box® - NONAME.SGU
Application file: C:\bb\bbw.exe
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Exception class: EAccessViolation
Exception message: Access violation at address 0065F7B4 in module 'bbw.exe'. Read of address 00000369.
Exception address: 0065F7B4

This happens randomly but more often than not, and has done so sine I started with BIAB 2018.

I have 2019 Ultrapak with the latest build 509. I have audio driver as MME.

I have a Steinberg ur22 audio interface. The error occurs whether or not I have the interface usb connected.

I have put up with this as a slight annoyance, ala Monty Python, but would be interested in any thoughts about how to be rid of this bug.

Out of curiosity, are you running BIAB in "Run as administrator" mode? This is different from logging in into Windows as administrator. (It's set by right-clicking on the start-up shortcut, selecting "Properties and then selecting "Run as administrator" under the compatibility tab.)

Noel

Hello Noel,

Yes, I have followed your advice from previous posts and run BIAB as administrator. I get the Windows "do you want to allow this app ...." message before loading the program.

I have tried many different audio settings etc. but the darling little violation message regularly pops up regardless.

What VSTi/DXi synth are you using? Is it VSTSynthFont?

If you have TTS-1 by Cakewalk/Sonar on your system, I suggest switching to this and see if it makes any difference.

If you don't have TTS-1 and want to try it, it can be obtained as freeware. Have a read of the below post by Peter Gannon.

Yes, I use Cakewalk as my DAW to finish mixing my songs, and have TTS-1 as the synth. I changed this after reading Peter Gannon's post from the other day.

Bit of a mystery, I guess, the little violation bug seems to ignore any suggestion that it should cease and desist.

Yeah... bugs have a mind of their own sometimes.

I've passed a link to this thread on to the developers. You've given detailed information and they will appreciate that greatly.

A fix will come along.

If it's any consolation I got exactly the same error message with BIAB 2018 but the program continued to work fine. I was concerned so put the problem to PG Music and then had to discontinue after a few emails as the problem cured itself - the error message just stopped.

I don't think its BIAB - just some random error message from Windows that arose for no good reason and disappeared as fast as it came

I posted this (again) in reply somewhere else, and access violations is one of those reappearing irritant things with windows:

IMO permissions are set 'wrongly' by windows. I regularly have to use 'take ownership', even while i run my whole system as administrator. Also once in a while i have to use Tweaking.com's Windows Repair AIO. And mark fix all permissions, running in SAFE mode.

Then USE 'take ownership' especially on the Program Data, User and even Windows folders after that. Quite often too also to do with running software from an external USB drive. Permission issues with Windows 7 were far worse, but Windows 10 is getting the hang of it too.

At times Juction Box also can fix issues with Program Data and double set 'shortcut junctions', but it's hard to understand how to use latter tool correctly; its kind of a programmers thing .... F

Not totally true I just finished a song file for an upcoming event in 2019 64 bit and it sounds great and runs smoothly. So to say it does not work period is silly. Now are there features that need tweaking? Sure every new release has to be fine tuned. As far as access violations I had a run in with those I believe back in either 2015 or 2016 and a call to tech support help iron it out. Maybe be a little more patient with them. As far as carrying around a hard drive I keep one in my accessory case setup to play and it is fine as a safety net. But I also always install to the hard drive of my laptop.

I'm having no issues with 32-bit BIAB 2019. Not bothering with 64-bit for now.

I get access violations every time I try the VST. Currently not using it but I load each new patch to see if it has been fixed yet.
