Headline is the gist..when I change the song tempo before playback from 100 to 105, or save the song at 105 then exit and reopen the song, it won't play back without choking and stuttering...the problem didn't exist in BIAB 2018, hadn't changed anything, installed the latest update (24 Dec 2018) then re installed ASIO4ALL when the problem persisted...tried the 'fast regeneration' box in song-settings....again, it plays fine at 100, just not at other tempos..suspect I'm missing something basic here, hope you can help..thanks.
Have you installed the latest update? This tempo problem is one that PG Music know about and have been working on. They have addressed some aspects of it in the most recent updates.
Updates can be downloaded from the following URL and applied manually by double-clicking on the downloaded EXE file.
#609 is the latest update. Since these updates are cumulative, there is no need to install earlier updates.
To see what update you are currently running, have a look under "Help | About Band In A Box"... the update version will be in bracket after the year version: e.g. 2019 (609) says the program is version 2019 and update 609.
Same problem both 32-bit and 64-bit versions..as stated before, no prior problems in 2018...can I uninstall and reinstall BIAB 2019 and go back to 2018 until the problem is fixed by PG Music?
No need to apologize..thanks for trying to help me, and I'm sorry I wasn't clearer..I thought what you were suggesting above was to do this: I installed 18 on the BIAB2018 stick-drive I received from BIAB..instead of on my pc, I installed it on the drive..it opened up and accessed all my realtracks, and played songs..the song that wouldn't play at 105bpm (but would at 100)used a style that I couldn't find (even though it was on my pc when 2018 was on it, so I had to copy and paste it from my 19 directory on my pc..unfortunately, it and other songs I tried, played back with the same results as BIAB 2019 32 and 64-bit. I tried contacting tech-support today but was unable to get through..maybe it's not just me? Again, appreciate your time.
It might have to do with USB and maybe limited access if running from a laptop.
See if there are many drivers still active with ASIO USB UR22 -1 Delete all the white (unused) ones.
What you could try is go into device manager, switch off in ALL USB hub properties the Power thing. see picture. This is one of those settings windows update usually screws up again and again, why i keep it switched off ....
Thanks, Fiddler! Don't know why, but it seems to have worked! Still a bit noisy when I hit the tempo change button while it's running, but can definitely live with that...thanks again!
Alas, I spoke too soon..frustratingly, the problem is back one day later, exactly the same..I try increasing the buffer size in ASIO4LL, no difference..
Find newer drivers for your USB chip. For a laptop, especially the mass produced cheaper ones hard sometimes, but if you know the exact brand of the chip itself might be easier. see picture for the location of the number to search with. Belarc Advisor might be a help there too. Some brands of USB chipmakers are Asmedia, sometimes Frescologic.
Update your chip set's drivers.
Update your graphics drivers, turn off all hardware acceleration if possible.
Update your on board sound chips' drivers, and/or try to disable them, in device manager; don't uninstall them though ..
PS i suspect windows update is active if it worked before. Windows 10 needs the proper Visual basics installed, both 64 and 32 bit, and DotNet also could be involved. Manufactures often save on programming time using this pre-programmed general stuff as an easy way out. Top brands like RME usually don't, why their stuff sometimes works better across all sort of platforms. F
Fiddler, and others who've sought to help..once again, I apologize for lack of info..I'm using Win 8.1..should've said so from the gitgo..hasn't been a problem with BIAB up to now..Thanks again for all your helpful suggestions.
Sorry about all of the trouble you are having. I recommend using WAS (Windows Audio Session) instead of ASIO4ALL if you need a generic low latency audio driver.
We have new update patch that improves playback performance (build 611), and it should be available some time today.
Hi, Blake- Thanks for the update and suggestion...no improvement in ASIO, alas, but definite improvement using WAS, but still noisy when the track starts for the first 3 or 4 measures... All the best.
Hi, guys- I started this thread around about when 2019 came out stating that playback was garbled when I tried to change song tempo from 110 bpm to 105..I'm running win 8.1, and BIAB 2018 was working great on it..with no joy from the builds and updates to the present day, I installed 2019 on another laptop running Win 10, and it works fine...still would prefer to get this laptop with 2019 working if poss...any more thoughts? Thanks.
