I was randomly loading and listening to the song demos for the 2019 real track styles when I found that occasionally a real track would load and appear to be generating as per the status bar at the top of the screen but was silent on playback. All the other tracks in the style played fine.
e.g. when I load the demo song for the style _TORRID (which consists of only 3 instruments) the bass and drums play but the tango musette (#3048) is silent even though the status bar said it was generating. This occured in both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Band In A Box on all three of my computers. If I open the BLANK style and put in some chords and select #3048 tango musette, once again it says it is generating but is silent on playback.
If I open the Stylepicker in Realband and choose to load the demo song for _TORRID, all three instruments load, generate and play fine. This is the case with the problem instruments shown in the other styles I've listed below so I know I have them all and at least they work in Realband.
I've tried downloading and reinstalling all the RealTrack sets again but no change. I've even tried downloading the main program again and reinstalling it and also installed the latest updates (build 610) with no success.
My three computers are: Desktop Intel i7 16gb RAM Windows 10 version 1803 Desktop AMD A10 16gb RAM Windows 10 version 1809 Notebook ASUS Intel i7 8gb RAM Windows 10 version 1803
I would appreciate if somebody could confirm similar behaviour. I wrote to PGmusic Support over a week ago about this but so far have not had the courtesy of a reply even though their auto-responder said it would be sent within two working days.
I went through and checked all of the new styles in the style sets 301-328 in the PlusPak and here are the ones I found with the offending RealTracks and their set numbers. All the other styles load fine and all their instruments generate and play as they should.
Richard, I just tried with the _TORRID demo song and all three tracks generate and play OK.
Randomly, I picked another from your list (_MISSTEP) and it played OK also, including soloing each instrument.
What does 'What add-ons Do I Have' show on your system? Does it highlight anything missing?
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
Thanks for checking. "What Addons Do I Have?" doesn't indicate anything missing. The only styles I should be missing are the ones in the Bonus 49pack which I didn't buy this year but none of the styles or RealTracks I listed are from the 49pak. I know I have all the styles and realtracks I listed because I can load and generate them in RealBand without error on all of my machines. I see that you have the Audiophile version - I don't, so maybe the problem doesn't exist in that one. It's certainly got me beat. I've been buying, updating and using BIAB for over 20 years and have only experienced this type of problem in the past when there has been some sort of bug in the installation files. Thanks again for checking
I have Ultrapak+ and all three _Torrid tracks play correctly.
Something of a long shot as three computers involved, but wonder if it could be same problem as I faced a while back following automatic Windows update? Sound card had switched itself to 5.1 from conventional stereo. Those Realtracks recorded in mono could not be heard as were trying to play through non-existent centre-front loudspeaker. Those recorded in stereo were fine as they played back normally through 'front' left and right speakers. As a result, some Realtracks could be heard, but others not.
Thanks for checking Allan. I tried your suggestion and checked my Sound settings and they seem to be OK and haven't switched to 5.1. I was also able to confirm the sound settings by loading the _Torrid style demo song in Band In A Box. Once again the tango accordion seemed to generate but wouldn't play. I saved the song as an .SGU file and then loaded it into RealBand. Lo and behold the 3 tracks all generated and played fine. The bass is a mono track and the drums and accordion are stereo and they played through the speakers no worries.
It's frustrating that I can go into RealBand and load, generate and play any of those Realtracks I listed without problems but if I try to load one of them in Band In A Box they appear as an instrument in the mixer and the status bar at the top of the screen shows them generating up to 100% but then when I play the song there is no sound from that track.
Thanks Noel, Yes I had installed build #610. In all my years of using BIAB I've never had to "Return to factory settings" so I didn't think to try that. But that's exactly what I needed to do on all three computers and now it's all good. Thank you for the advice. I'll try that in the future before I go off half-cocked.
Like you, I so rarely use "return to factory settings" that it's usually not my first port of call when things stop working properly. I totally understand!
Thanks again Noel, I now realise that it's a much more useful tool than I ever gave it credit for. Thanks for the best wishes and Happy New Year to you and all the other helpful gurus on this forum.
