OK to load harmonies with songs
If set to YES, the harmony settings for each song will be loaded and saved with each song. If set to NO, the harmony setting won't be saved or loaded with the songs.
If you are using a certain harmony, you should set this setting to NO, otherwise you'll have to keep re-selecting the harmony when you load in new songs.
If I am "using a certain harmony", that means I want it to be part of the song. That's why I loaded it. I saved the file with the harmony loaded because I liked the harmony. If I didn't, I'd load a different harmony, and then save the song. When I save the song with a harmony, it means I want that harmony saved with the song. If I am using a certain harmony, why would I not save it along with the song? Is this not clear?
But the help says I should set the setting to No. That means, don't save my work. Why would I say that? Then, the harmony setting won't be saved or loaded with "the" songs -- ??
Of course it's not saved with "the songs". I'm only saving one song. Right? I want that harmony saved with that song. So why would I check NO?
I don't want it to be loaded with "the" songs (new songs have no harmony, so they're irrelevant to this discussion). I do want it loaded with the song I selected it for, and saved it with. That was the point of the selecting and saving. Same with existing songs. I saved them with harmonies, or not. But unless I check NO, the harmonies I saved, in order that they would be loaded with the song, will nevertheless not be loaded, unless I checked the box that says not to save them?
What exactly does this setting do, and what is the point? Does the "Save special" option negate this setting, or add to it, partially or totally, in what ways?
