Are you dragging the tracks into the WAV corner of the drop station at the top left of the Band-in-a-Box window, and then from there into Ableton, or are you dragging track names directly into Ableton?

Some DAWs require the use of that drop station. I don't have Ableton on this computer, but it's likely one of them.

Regarding the second issue, by default, RealTracks can only be exported as audio. That being said, most of them have been transcribed for notation purposes (this is called RealCharts), and the MIDI used for the transcription can be exported, if you go to Options - Preferences - RealTracks, and check the box marked "Save RealCharts in MIDI files".
