They closed the federal (and local) government offices in the DC area on Monday, all the schools were closed, etc. So my son and I went out and about and took care of errands, because we had no problems with the roads. I think it's mainly because downtown DC was a mess. Since DC is a driving and walking city, and they really don't deal with snow well anyway (because we often don't have to), with this much, all they can do is plow it onto the sidewalks to let the cars through. But that means there are 6 ft high piles of snow on the sidewalks and the businesses can't open then. I guess it takes them a day or two to gather and then go dump the snow somewhare else (rather than just shifting it over).

Anyway, I got the rest of my Christmas shopping done (along with everyone else out and about), as well as shoveling (and, as my wife says, I'm not 25 anymore). Luckily, my son is home from college, so we were both able to work on it.
