Quote from another Post by Dan "Now I have to ask... Does the BIAB VSTi work with MIDI?? I just tried to put a couple midi super tracks into Reaper via the BIAB VSTi and all the midi tracks were rendered to audio??
I have same question, I tried to do this with an all midi mgu in Cakewalk and finished up with all audio. I often work with a mix of audio and midi tracks and may well want to retain the midi tracks as midi for further editing that's the whole point of bringing it into to daw. any thoughts. Another thing what source does the vst use to render midi to audio that is from where does it get its voices ??? Mike
I can drag midi out of the VST, but i suspect Coyote WT, or worse: Miscrisoft Wavetable .. you can only set Directsound or Windows Audio. Not Good LoL.
Now i wonder if PG had put all their efforts towards a Rewire slave mode for BIAB instead of all this VST stuff that ain't no VST (yet?), and Videotracks monkey business last year, we would be better off ....
Yes, if your song has a MIDI track, you get both MIDI and the rendered audio track. The audio is the little green icon, so drag that out if you want the rendered audio. For MIDI, drag the yellow icon.

Works only for yellow midi and not for blue midi. Unless someone tells me different.

What Andrew is confirming does not appear to be correct. Hate to beat a dead horse, and I don't want to be difficult, but I got no yellow icon for the SMTs. So it don't work as Andrew says.
Hi you have not generated the file yet after generation you will have solid boxes, blue master track green audio on the left hand side and if midi is present you will have yellow boxes on the right. as all of your boxes are not filled in that says you have not done the generation yet then they will go solid and allow you to to drag from both yellow or blue, the yellow midi ones will stay as midi.

OK, I have it all still open. So I generated. No diff. This is a bug and needs to be confirmed by either Andrew or someone else here in the forum. Use a MST and try it.
In my reply to your other thread I noticed that you are using the FX version of the VSTi. I use the regular version. That may be the difference. Like I said try the regular VSTi and let us know how you make out.
OK, a random thought; Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

Mario, Sorry I have this topic mixed across two threads. We really don't all need the extra confusion caused by me. I tried your suggestion over in the other thread and no joy. No one has shown me a MST in the VST which does not change to audio so I am concluding this is a bug. I would just like PGM to acknowledge this so I can stop driving everyone nuts with these treads.
I just selected an SMT and the plugin ask OK to add super patch HQ. SAY NO! Generate and drag I got a midi file with no audio. I think what we need here is a detailed manual in light of the confusion with midi and SMT, to explain.

Ya, there is a lot of confusion indeed. My problem was not what you described.
In my workflow I could not create a .sgu file in BIAB with a MST (Midi super Track), which I could save and then load into the VST and at the same time maintain the MST as a MIDI track in the VST in Reaper. The MST would always turn into an audio track.
So, to get around this, I used your workflow: I loaded the .sgu file which I created and saved from BIAB into the VST and then "added" a new track within the VST. As you note, there is actually an option to add a MST from within the VST. When I did this it loaded the MST as a yellow midi track which I could then insert into Reaper from the VST.
I still think my original workflow shows a bug, but without design specs or detailed manual... In fact, based on these threads, there seems to be only a few of us who have any concern about this stuff...

No, I'm concerned too. Midi is for sure what I will use most with the vst. So I am glad that you started this thread.
