Thanks all! Actually, Greg, there are two ways (I think!) of interpreting the lyrics: one is the one you said (gotta listen to Mama!) :-) The other is that the guy in the song fell foul of an overprotective mother and the girl he liked left him because she sensed that his Mama's advice got into him and that he never gave the relationship a proper, unprejudiced chance. In that sense, the guy's a bit of a Mama's boy, haha.
Either way, thanks for your kind comments - everyone! :-) I'm far from awesome, Ed (though thank you!!!), but one thing I can say for myself is that I do try, no matter what, haha. Cheers! :-)
