Toontracks also sent me an email announcing the upcoming product. I have both ezdrummer, superior drummer and Addictive drums. I like all three for certain things. I just got ezkeys a few weeks ago and it has been a fun program to play with.

When Toontracks sent the email I looked around to see what else existed in a bass program. I downloaded UJAM demo copy of VB Royal. It cost $130 if I wanted to buy it and I did not think it was worth the money.

It will be interesting to see how ezbass works.

What I would like to see is a program that generates bass lines in the style of...

Paul McCartney
Flea
John Paul Jones
Geddy Lee
Les Claypool
Vicor Wooten
John Entwistle
Lemmy Kilmister
Jaco Pastorius
Jack Bruce
Roger Waters
Bootsy Collins
Cliff Burton
Charles Mingus
John Patitucci

and perhaps a few other bass players!!

There are bass players that can play in many of those styles and could lay down real tracks for PG Music or other software developers.

Phil Capone a guitar player produced a book with a CD of very good examples of blues lines typical of famous players.

Any of this can be done as there are plenty of studio musicians who can do these sort of things.

I find the piano lines in BB are much better that the piano lines in ezkeys. BB is a bit more difficult to work with but produces better results...just my 2 and 1/2 cents worth...lol

At the end of the day I think it could be less problem for me to become a better bass player than to try to get bass lines from software for 90% of the things I want to do. The other 10% can get done by a studio musician. No software I have ever messed with can replace a pro studio musician.

Who knows, perhaps one day we will see a group of musicians playing
computers live at the Grammys...lol

Cheers,

Billy

“Amazing! I’ll be working with Jaco Pastorius, Charlie Parker, Art Tatum, and Buddy Rich, and you’re telling me it’s not that great of a gig?
“Well…” Saint Peter, hesitated, “God’s got this girlfriend who thinks she can sing…”
