I am enjoying this thread too though way across the big pond. Nice to get an insight and a pictured painted of the places you have been and would like to travel to.

I was even looking forward to a blog from Eddie when he was thinking of starting his RV travels that time, then he went and sold it, though it was the right thing to do he felt.

Have any of you ever put places into Google street view and then have a good look around, I do this all the time, brings a bit more realism to a place name.

Haven't got to America yet myself, maybe some day though time is on the march and I would need to get a move on. Probably would be a trip to New York if I did get around to it, I do love the streaming cams from Times SQ.

For a while here I have been finding the Forums a little depressing, this wrong or that. Not much seemed nice. Then I read this. I found this thread warming (if that is the right word). Sounds like some folk have good times. Your experiences are different to ours in the real South. (Below the equator).

It is a good read.

I do that a lot. As I look at houses in smaller towns, the kind where directions include "Go through THE stoplight", I take a virtual drive through the town and look at the storefronts and such. If a town is full of payday loan businesses, pawn shops, smoke shops that sell smokes individually rather than by pack, that gives me a feel for the economic climate of the place and the element that lives there and they go off my list. But if I see a busy street full of local businesses with people walking in and out of stores, then they get my attention.

I just wish Google would update that more. I looked at a house recently that Google maps street view showed to be a grown over, tangled mess. The real estate site photos though showed that all the awful shrubs and the dead tree have been removed, and the yard was bright and cheerful. The imagery on street view was from 2013. My own house shows my old windows and shrubbery in front of my house, which dates those pictures as being before 2014 when I bought the new windows.

Overall though, Google maps is a great tool.

I’m another Carolina transplant I moved to the upstate of South Carolina a year ago. Actually work up around lake Keowee on occasion. I like in the Spartanburg area. I love it here, and would not move back to Southern California unless I had to. It’s beautiful and far better for us financially. $1.00 a gallon cheaper gas, and I pay 1/3 what I paid there for housing.

When I saw your location I thought "Isn't he in California??" Now I know why.

Another candidate to attend Herbfest! How many do we need before the food and drink vendors start asking to attend? Bring me the Italian sausage and peppers sandwich guy and I'll never leave. If the Elephant Ears truck comes I will start building a house.

Back when I traveled on the company dime I always looked at the age and condition of personal vehicles to get an idea how economically successful an area was. It always amazed me how some parking areas would be filled with Mercedes, Lexus or BMW and a short distance away fifteen year old pickups and beaters were the norm.

One thing that amazed me was how in the snow belt you see a lot of vehicles eat through because of road salt but they disappear once the weather turns warm and people bring their "good" vehicles out of storage.

All this fun talk of Herbfest made me think about something. Until I visited Pat, I had no idea just how many users here are in the Carolinas. Given that, what would the objections be, if any rational objections exist, to require at the very minimum a user list his state? I mean, privacy? C'mon. What kind of paranoia is it to care who knows what state you are in? Besides which, as I just showed one user here, with the internet anybody with minimal internet skills can find you in about 5 minutes. Complete with a picture of your house if they choose to take it that far. Of course nobody is asking for home address and such, as that is obviously taking it too far, but in the spirit of community and the "musician bro" factor, it would be great to know where everybody is.

That way, as we plan Herbfest, we know who to expect will descend on his property!!

Ok, I live near a place called "Center of the World."

Eddie,

One of the forum users created a map thingy where anyone can mark their location with a virtual push pin. They have a link to the webpage in their signature.

The forum literally has thousands of members and I think three participated.

While your idea has merit I doubt it will fly very far. But I've been proven wrong before!

I have actually stopped and taken a picture of that very sign and posted it on Facebook with the comment "No. I am the center of the world!!"

I had a guy out Warren way fix a baritone sax for me and on the way to drop it off and pick it up I passed that sign.

And let's not forget Intercourse, PA. Which has never, and I don't know why, appealed to Climax in That State Up North to become sister cities.

But back to Herbfest..... Will there be t-shirts?

suggested schedule of events for Herbfest 2019:

1) while we consume the 1st case of beer, have a meet & greet

2) 2nd case: jam session

3) 3rd case: target practice (shooting at beer cans from events #1 and #2)

4) 4th case: same as event #3, but now the beer cans are balanced on one anothers' heads

5) 5th case: Same as event #4, but now its live action and nobody is standing still. Every man for himself. Last man standing gets the generator and PA system.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
