You can save some of the main settings: Options | Save Preferences As.
Alternatively, make a copy of the Preferences folder in your bb folder, and give it a descriptive name so that you know what it is. In the future, you could rename that to Preferences to get your old settings back. (Do this with the Band-in-a-Box program closed).
