Yep... this is a new tune. Kinda threw it together for fun. playing around with a few other ideas... man, loving the new stuff in 2019.

I didn't spend a lot of time on this tune. Quick write and quick recording.

If you feel it is absolutely necessary to post an opposing opinion take the time to write your own counter protest song and then post it in the form of a song. Other than that...comments welcome.

Build The Wall

tracks

Bass 684
Drums rock even 8
guitars 2757 & 2758
slide 669
Me: Solo guitars, vocals.

Build The Wall

They come from the lands down south of the border,
up through mexico way
Final destination, the good old USA
Under the shadow of darkness, crossing that line in the sand
Bringing things we do not need, while holding the devil's hand

Oh oh build the wall... today
Oh Oh, don't let nothing get in our way
They love our milk and honey but they burn and desecrate our flag
Oh Oh Build the wall... today

Politicians selling out, filthy lucre so they say
seems to be the root of all evil in this world today
Greed and corruption, are everywhere so it seems
Have we gone too far that we have lost our founders dream?

I love a good Protest Song - and this is Spot On.
I wish I could write a "Brexit WTF" one over here.
As Lord Acton said at the start of the last century - "Power tends to corrupt and absolute Power, corrupts absolutely."
If Trump does get his way and the wall is built Americans must remember that they will need to do the work themselves that they currently throw down to the migrants. Can you see that happening?

Herb,

Well done. A good, basic rock sound, a good mix.

Well written (even if it is oversimplified and skewed).

Tasteful lead.

I would not normally put a link to a song in someone else's thread, but...per your instructions, here is an opposing view...

Hi Herb,

Speaking from the safety of the UK, there's no way I'm getting involved in that argument,
but I did love the music.

It's a great, uncivilised, unpretentious, raw, rocking sound and I loved it.

I'll leave the lyrics for others to pick-up on!

ROG.

Herb, Good rocker! Nice use of the slide track. The way you processed it sounds like David Lindley. Great guitar by you. The twinned part spread across the soundstage is especially nice. Excellent mix and production, Tom

Smoke And Mirrors

Thanks Floyd. glad you liked it in a musical sense. I don't mind the link but I didn't see how it was exactly an opposing view.... but maybe I missed it as I was thinking TV evangelist the whole time I was listening. Anyway.... Smoke & Mirrors is a good song. I think I might have missed that one when you first posted it. Maybe you can write one about open the border and free the people.... or something.

Thanks for dropping in an having a listen. I always enjoy your point of view and look forward to your comments. You have good ears.

Great tune...
Always write as you would speak...
The truth as you see it...
Others can do the same smile
That's one of the great things about our country & this forum.

My thoughts have already been presented...
But I don't know if listeners spotted the subtlety...
The Statute of Liberty blocked by a green corroded fence...
Smell the Fresh Air

I like this sort of stuff. I have not ever posted any of my protest songs here for fear of being shot, butchered , and Bar B Q ed...LOL

The music is cool also. It is not that I agree or disagree with the point of view. I just like the idea we should be able to protest anything we like with music and video.

This is the sort of stuff that I find very entertaining to listen to here on the forum. Plus, Guitarhacker is a good guitar player.

By the way, I'm with furry, I don't live in England but I am also a bit sick of the hearing about Brexit. Get in or get out, but just close the damn door...lol

Cheers,

Billy

Good song. Has a bit of Neil Young vibe which sits well with the protesting theme I would think.

Not been on user showcase for a while, and what a first listen.

This is done nice and colourful, with a rhythm/style that keeps the listener listening.

A growly protest song and very well sung, with a fantastic soundtrack.

Enjoyed This one.

money gained in a dishonorable way, whew I had to look it up

nail on the head!

I feel like there's more than a few politicals on cartel payrolls.

You'd think people would like a doer instead of just a talker

A number of predecessors talked a big game about border security,

unfair trade agreements, Jerusalem, jobs, North Korea, minorities, etc., etc., etc.

and never made a move, didn't even pick up a phone and try.

Musicians, actors, and artists are usually by nature anti-establishment

and, or liberal.

I like a doer, I like what I see and not the gossip of perversion,

scrutinizing every step of a man now when it wasn't done before.

I'm a conservative Texan, a christian and probably now considered

to be a lot less cool on this board. Build the wall, slow down the inflow of drugs.

If Mexico was smart, they would've paid for (Up Front) and built the wall,

look at what they're having to deal with. I feel for hungry and desperate people,

there are ways to help them there or even to get here.

Sorry Herb, enough complaining from me,

It's an anthem! excellent twin guitars, very nice playing

a good mix.

Enjoyed!

Kenny

Yes, I also hear a little bit of Neil Young reminds me of Rockin in the Free World. Yes, I'll probably be a little less cool after agreeing with Build the Wall, I've donated several times. Good to put money where your mouth is. Mexico will pay for the wall, probably tolls to get across after the wall is up. Heck all the money we save will more than pay for the wall. Not to mention it's been promised for 30 years by most of the politicians who only made promises but never kept them as they were either too impotent or even worse a part of the corruption. Good song and thanks having the guts for posting. I can't tell you how many times I've had to sit and listen to a Bash the Current President song.
And I am an artist and a musician, so we're not all lefties.

Rog.... good to hear from you all the way from across the pond. I was in fact going for a more raw sound. One reason I didn't spend a lot of time on this. Most of the tracks I added including vocals were one take and done. the BGV are without a doubt one shot deals.

furry x2.... glad you took the time to listen and comment. I know about the Brexit thing but since it's "over there" I don't keep up with the details.

Nothing like a good old revolution every now and then to set things straight.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
