Changing instruments is easy from Band in a Box. Each channel in the mixer can have as many as 10 different instruments when using Realtracks. I'm not sure if that limitation is the same if you're making midi patch changes but there should be no issue whether you're using a RealTrack or midi.

To make a single instrument change, the simplest thing is to open Bar Settings (F5) to the bar you want the change to occur. Select the RealTracks Button near the top of the screen. Follow the prompts to select a RealTrack and ok your way out of all the menus.

To change to another instrument or to revert back to the original instrument, open Bar Settings at the bar you want to make the next change and select the RealTracks button again and follow the prompts to make this change.

Note if you want to program a entire song, you can access the Medley feature to program the various instruments and change intervals by opening the RealTracks Picker and selecting the Medley Button in the upper right of the window.

Using the RealTracks Medley feature, you can have two (or more) instruments play simultaneously on the same track.

If your track is a midi track, you can also change patches from the Bar Settings page.

Hope this helps.
