If you could live the life of any famous musician for a day, who would you choose and why? Is it because of a song that they made, or just due to their personal philosophies? Or maybe because their life would be so drastic from your own day-to-day? I'm curious to hear people's thoughts.
Cheers, Ember

Bob Dylan — and during that day I’d write about 30 great songs! He did seem like a fairly inspired person, didn't he? I'm always so mystified by folks who can sit down and write that much - whether it's songs or books. Mind blowing.

Ringo Starr on any one of the days between April 06 to June 21, 1966 that The Beatles were preparing and recording tracks for the 11 songs (8 in the USA boo! hiss! hiss! Capitol Records) used on the album, Revolver.
The Beatles were absolutely at the top of their songwriting, singing, musicianship and performing skills. The group were still performing, working together and friends with each other.
It was, without a doubt in my mind, the best time to be a member of the group.

Joe Pass on one of the three days he recorded "Virtuoso" because: that was the pinnacle of (Jazz) guitar playing and improv.

Jeff Lynne of ELO around 1981.... Recording of "Time". I think Jeff was wayyy ahead of his time, and it would be interesting to experience it.

Bob Dylan — and during that day I’d write about 30 great songs! I hate to correct you; but I think you meant co-write. As in, co-write with your new best friend Bud. Great choice! Can I be him a day too? Of course, not on the same day. The Bob Dylan Trio solo album just wouldn't work.

Well...I am not sure I would want to live some other persons life for a day. Yes, it would be cool to feel what it would be like to play like Gary Moore, write like Bobby D. Do I have to have to deal with the problems that person had also?
It is most likely a good thing that it is not possible. lol
Cheers,
Billy

Larry It would be pretty cool to be the person behind a well known project. I don't think I'd personally ever want to be famous though. I like my privacy, haha. But the experience of seeing that process and tapping in to that person's mind for a little while would be a nifty experience.

Do you think it would still be an interesting experience to spend a "day in the life of" if that person wasn't as ahead of the times? Or do you feel that's what made them great in your mind? Curious to know!

Billy A very interesting point! I suppose if you were choosing a specific point in time and knew the general idea behind that day and what they were doing you could avoid such problems (potentially). But not every inch of a person's - famous or otherwise - is documented. So it's safe to assume any of the problems they faced may be something you had to face as well. Perhaps it would be better to say, "if you could live one moment as somebody else" instead of an entire day. Good point, though! I'm not sure I'd swap with someone either. I think I'm mostly curious just to see how a great mind functions and being able to "hear" that process happen.
Cheers, Ember

This is a hard question for me as there are many musicians that could fit into this category. But if I have to pick only one it would be Frank Zappa because of his music knowledge. He could write his famous off the cuff stuff (The Mothers of Invention), to jazz to classical. He was a genius.
A close second would be either Wes Montgomery or Johnny Smith because of their technical guitar chops.

Me.
I find no joy in living vicariously through anybody else. The same way I understand that knowing someone else a million years ago who becomes famous doesn't somehow make MY life better. It's not like I am responsible for their talent. Everybody came from somewhere. And remember, choosing to live their life doesn't mean you would have their talent.

Alan Parsons .. any time around the Dark Side of the Moon and I Robot era of his career .. though there were many many other times he was just as much 'in the loop' of what was making new inventive music. He really did contribute the winning touches for many record breaking recordings. That seems like a lot of fun to me.
Or maybe Bowie around the Heroes era ..
There are so many to choose from, but those popped into my mind first.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

Ember, I think that is exactly what makes him - him. If not that, he would be an average guy in average setting I am just curious if it was a deep vision or improvisation "in style". For some reason, I never get tired of ELO. This question specifically mentions "a day" (I assume it means one day) On that note, I would also like to put two requests for a single day transformations 1) to a woman acrobat and 2) my cat.
