Has anyone had any success using the "solo wizard" setting in the solo dialogue box? I can't actually get it to do anything.

Hi, If you mean the Soloist Dialogue window, it works fine. It's a tool for creating MIDI solos. If you go to the link below, there are a couple of video clips that will help with understanding it a little bit better... https://www.pgmusic.com/videos.bbwin.htmIn the "Beginners" section, a video called "Band In A Box Soloist Overview" provides a good introduction. It's 11 mins 44 secs long. Also, in the "Archive" section, there's a video called "Soloist and Melodist Tutorial (15:52). This provides a more comprehensive understanding. Even though the video relates to an older version of BIAB, the principles are identical today. Regards, Noel

Ah, so the Soloist Wizard is only for Midi Solos, and not for Realtrack soloists? The documentation and the most recent video don't mention that. Are the settings in the Soloist Dialogue window that relate to how the Melody Influences Solo only for midi soloists too? I don't get much difference on Realtrack solos when I choose one of these options.

If a melody is entered as notation in BIAB, then the melody will be MIDI. This MIDI melody, can then be used by the Soloist generator to construct MIDI soloists that 'work around' the given MIDI melody notes.
Since Realtrack soloists are recorded snippets of audio and it's not possible to get the RT soloists to play specific notes nor sequences of notes, I suspect that the option you mention is a MIDI-only one, too.

Thanks Noel.
That is all very confusing to a newbie, and not at all addressed in the documentation or the PG videos. the documentation and videos just make it sound as if all Soloist adjustments apply to The Soloist in general.
It would be good to know exactly what Soloist parameters only apply to Midi soloists. It's strange that all parameters are still available as options when you choose a Realtracks soloist too.

It would be good to know exactly what Soloist parameters only apply to Midi soloists. It's strange that all parameters are still available as options when you choose a Realtracks soloist too. I should have mentioned in my previous post that I am not absolutely sure whether Realtrack soloists are unaffected by the settings. I suspect they aren't but I'm not in a position to test it out right now. Regards, Noel
