There are multiple ways to make the tempo change sound less abrupt. So I can be more specific I will use the tempo changes used in my example song file. The example song file has a tempo map of 60 bpm from bars 1 to 16, tempo of 120 bpm from bars 17 to 24 and tempo of 60 bpm from bar 25 to the end.

One way is to place a shot as the first, and only, chord on bars 16 and 24. However for shots to work help says "RealTracks will play shots, holds and pushes when (1) the "Allow Shots, Holds and Pushes" option is enabled in song settings; (2) the Shots, Holds and Pushes files are installed and (3) the RealTracks Picker has a number in the "Holds" column for each RealTracks used in the song. In the song file RealTracks 732 and 742 are used and each has a number in the RealTracks Picker "Holds" column. The chord used in bar 16 and bar 24 will be "Em..".

Another way is to use the "F5 Tempo % Change" over several bars to vary the tempo some prior to each abrupt tempo change.
