Hi all

Lately when I go to read a forum post I always get sent to the first post, and have to scroll through.
No mater if I click on the left column or the date of the last post in the right column.
In the past I have always gone to the last post unread by me.
Cant find a way to change this in preferences.
Help, am I going mad!
Mike

Once you've read all the posts in a thread and then open that thread again, it will take you to the first post. Could that be what's happening?

Trevor -

What used to happen is if there is a new post on a thread, as long as I'm logged in to my account, if I click on the title from the Index page, it took me to the location on the page of the most recent post I had not previously read. What is happening now when there is a new post in a thread is that it takes me to the first post on the page where the new post appears (at the top of the page). So, if there is a 3 page thread, but the most recent post I had read was on page two, it takes me to the top of page two, and I have to scroll down to find where I was previously.

Yes, if I have already previously read all the posts in a thread, it takes me to the top of page 1.

So my sense is that it knows where I am in the thread, but no longer takes me directly to the new material. I have not yet had a chance to do an exhaustive test on whether this is related to device (home laptop, home desktop. work laptop, phone, etc) married to any of the different browsers (Firefox, IE, Chrome, Edge). If I have some time, I'll try to do that, but clearly folks are posting similar problems on the forum.

Thanks John, interesting.

It's not doing it here on Firefox (but I don't know if it's browser related).

However I have noticed one small change. Usually when a new post opened, the very top of the post was cut off (it was scrolled past that point) and I had to scroll up one or two lines to see the top of the post. It's no longer doing that, so yes, something has changed.

I wonder if Andrew the resident PG Music Forum setup guru could advise?

Nope. I just changed back to Chrome recently and it won't jump to unread post.

If I load Microsoft Edge, it works properly.

It may be this weekend before I get to it, but I'll try to test it out (multiple machines/multiple browsers). Only real problem is that I keep up pretty well on the forum, that I may run out of new posts to test with. Maybe I can use the User Showcase for my test case, since that area is pretty active. Or maybe it will be fixed by then.

And just now on this machine, when I clicked "Submit" for my post, it used to take me to the post I just submitted; instead, it took me to the top of the thread. But this is my work machine, so there may be some lock down settings that affect it (cookies, perhaps).

It's doing it in Chrome as well and scrolling is especially difficult for me as a paralyzed user. I hope they address this issue soon.

On safari in iOS, an irritating ‘preview’ box pops up that makes it difficult to navigate the thread. I don’t know if the other issue described here also occurs. The ‘preview’ is in single quotes because it only shows a small portion of the preview and often obscures the thread page navigation. Definitely not optimized for mobile use on iOS.

Hi Rock star
The preview pop up can be switched off under my stuff preferences.
This still works.

Hi Mike
I reported it to the developers, so hopefully they'll find something and get it sorted.
