<The Bass, Piano, Drums, Guitar and Strings tracks are reserved for use by the auto accompaniment feature of the program while the user has full creative control over the content of the Melody, Soloist and Audio tracks.>
If this is the case PG Music should have ENTIRELY disabled editing of MIDI in those tracks.
To enable editing in piano-roll in some limited but hobbled manner is just plain bd design and showing little real thought and planning.
I wanted to tidy up some piano parts to simplify them so my mother could sight read simple chords and play along with me. Copying to the MELODY track and back would be - of course - a BODGE or as one says a KLUDGE.
