I hear where you are coming from! You're not alone. One of the things that I learned to do was to use non-destructive editing and to cut, paste and blend. I used to aim to get a track right in a single take. I don't do that any more. I simply record 4 vocal tracks (sometimes 6) - one after the other on separate tracks. I now use those 4 tracks to compile a 5th track that is a cutting and pasting of the best sounding phrases from each performance. It's worth the effort. In my last posting, MarioD said "Outstanding vox" to me... little does he know!
