I also tried this with a loop and it works for that. This means a member of the jam group can create a full chorus acid loop of their playing melody and I can mute it during the middle solo choruses. The only problem with this is if the melody is played outside the chorus (during count ins, during endings, during tag endings, during intros it does not work). If I remember correctly I submitted a request for this.
