Southern Fried Tide song about chilhood memories. Everyone has some. BIAB was the core here, added some instruments , maybe too many, to fill it out. ENjoy CLiff & Corey

When I was a little boy, I played with many toys
but I always wound up laying them aside
I'd stroll through the woods alone, kicking leaves and old pine cones
till at last my feet unveiled that treasured prize.
Was a stick about 3 foot long, fairly straight and mighty strong
a knot or two was no concern to me
I'd sight it down the bore, level the bark till my thumbs got sore
and whisk it over my head with dignity
many a brave charge I led, with that stick over my head
rallying soldiers that no one else could see
Fought the civil war, both sides, how that stick would change the tide

Nice work on this  A really nice throwback to classic country, with really strong vocals and a catchy chorus. Love the harmonies, and there's some wonderful chord progressions. Thanks for sharing!

Flashback to my childhood! Loved! We played the same games up here in the north! I found it interesting in that I go into the woods and take pictures for relaxation now and your song pointed to a similar situation.
I liked your vocals and especially your lyrics. To nitpick I thought that some of the background leads that were playing during your vocals were a little distracting. I would have preferred to have them in between your phrases, but that is just my opinion. YMMV
Regardless this is an excellent song as is.
You know you're getting old when a recliner and a heating pad is your idea of a hot date!

Some great classic country sounds here! I grew up on a farm about an hour northwest of St. Louis, Missouri (until I started high school ... moved to the city then). But being about forty miles from Nowhere, and Nowhere was ten miles further down the road, we had to be self-entertaining. If nothing else, it teaches you a little creativity. A few things in your lyric that take me back to specific things as I grew up.

Thank You Deryk, this one was written by me in about 92, had a good recording of it then in a pro studio, but, I think this one is better, BIAB the professional recording studio and musicians sure can do wonders with a song. Cliff

Very smooth listen . . . brings me back to the 70s . . . just pleasant on the ears. I would have liked to follow along with the lyrics a bit more, as I didn’t quite catch everything, and most of what I heard seemed pretty sweet to me. As a suggestion, the ending seemed a bit too quick to the fade. . . but that, too, is just nitpicking. On the whole, this is a strong, strong piece of music, and I enjoyed my listen.
