I am 77. When I was ten I had three records - a Louis Armstrong 45 of something, Dizzy's Night In Tunisia and Ahmad Jamal's Poinciana.
Since then, I have 'matured(?) as a musician, weaving through Dizieland, swing, bebop, quartal, blues, rock, funk, Hindustani raga, Hammond B3, synthesizer recording and computer programming/manipulation. Occasionally would hear Poinciana on the radio, or play it - imitatively, as we mostly all did - on the gig.

And then a few days ago I saw this:
Ahmad Jamal - Autumn Leaves - Palais des Congrès Paris 2017
All this time, this genius has been developing his chop and his wit - advanced many-fold - and just kept getting better. Every piece he plays is fun, warm, insightful, challenging, beautiful - and delightful.

All respect to this amazing talent.

It's all about the music.
(I keep telling myself that...)
