First of all, RealTracks will not respect the melody at all. They are pre-recorded phrases and don't know a thing about the melody being played. They'll match the chord progression, but not the melody.

So, assuming you are planning on using MIDI for your solo, there are a few things you can select. There is a Soloist setting called "Melody Influences Solo". You select the method you want from the list:

  • Pop/simple melodies (default)
  • Bebop/complex melodies
  • First/Last Notes match melody
  • Similar notes used
  • Density & Rhythm match
  • Rhythm and notes match
  • Custom settings (you can look in the user manual on around page 308 to see the additional custom settings)

You then specify a strength percentage to indicate how much of those things actually happen. The strength (%) setting allows you to control how much the solo will be influenced by the melody.
