Benritrovati i vecchi, bentrovati i nuovi. Gli amici intendo.
Dopo molto (troppo?) tempo torno a frequentare questo forum sperando di ricevere una mano d'aiuto.
Avevo sospeso, qualche anno fa, l'utilizzo intensivo del nostro amato BiaB perchè, avendo formato un gruppo di amici musicisti (sig!) avevo spesso occasione di suonare dal vivo. L'ultimo mio aggiornamento risale alla versione 2013 che, a poco a poco, avevo completato con quasi tutti gli add-on disponibili, sia in termini di set di styli che di real tracks che di real drums, così come melodist. adesso, purtroppo, quel piccolo gruppo musicale si è sciolto e non mi capita più molto spesso di suonare con strumentisti in carne ed ossa. Per evitarmi la depressione i miei, in occasione del mio settantesimo ( esattamente settanta) compleanno mi hanno regalato la versione 2018 di BiaB, non l'aggiornamento da versione precedente ma la nuova installazione. Qual'è il problema? non so come implementare, in questa nuova versione, tutti gli add-on già installati con la versione precedente.
Ringrazio chi mi ha letto fin qui ma ringrazierò ancora di più qualcuno che potrà darmi la dritta che mi serve.

sono felice di rileggerti in questo Forum, e anche se in ritardo approfitto per farti gli auguri!
70 è un traguardo importante e . . . sigh! or che mi sovvien . . . non son tanto lontan . . .
Parlando di cose più serie . . . temo sarò un po’ lungo ahimè, ma non me la sento di illuderti che ho la soluzione del problema, preferisco descriverti la mia esperienza, purtroppo (e tu sai che l’ho predicato parecchio anche in passato) ci sono troppe variabili in gioco, parlo delle installazioni su PC ovviamente, molte "situazioni" (hardware e software) che pur apparendo simili in realtà sono estremamente diverse tra loro.
Mi sono imbattuto proprio quest’anno in un problema irrisolto, nonostante lo scambio di email con il supporto tecnico di PG Music.
Ho aggiornato la versione di BiaB (per Windows) mediamente un anno si ed uno no (realtracks comprese da quando esistono). L’ultimo acquisto: la versione 2019 come aggiornamento dalla 2017.
Mi stampa la notazione da schifo, sia direttamente sulla stampante che convertendo in formato pdf.
Dopo un inutile scambio di messaggi con il supporto tecnico (tieni presente che altri con PC all’incirca come il mio non hanno questo problema!) ho provato a fare tabula rasa.
Ecco cos’ho fatto:
formattato un hard disk nuovo, installato il S.O., i relativi driver e, prima di installare altri software, ho installato da zero BiaB 2019 partendo proprio dagli stessi file che mi avevano fatto scaricare come aggiornamento.
Ho installato successivamente tutte le RealTracks, RealDrum, Styles, Add-on, ecc. ecc., anche vecchi file che avevo dai tempi pre-RealTracks, ho creato l’apposita cartella per gli Styles autoprodotti ed infine ho fatto rigenerare al programma gli elenchi delle Songs, degli Styles e delle RealTracks.
Tutto funziona perfettamente tranne per il problema che speravo di poter risolvere, ma che infine ho risolto reinstallando (solo il programma senza RealTracks, Add-on ecc.) la versione 2017 nello stesso Hard Disk, ovviamente ho nominato diversamente la Cartella d’installazione: bb per la versione 2019 e bb17 per la vecchia versione.
Ora quando ho bisogno di una stampa della notazione corretta, apro il file dell’arrangiamento con la versione 2017!
Spero che quanto ho scritto possa aiutarti almeno a trovare l’ispirazione giusta per imboccare la strada verso la soluzione del tuo problema!

Scusa ma credo di dover aggiungere alcune precisazioni: avevo provato a stampare (senza successo) anche in fasi diverse della reinstallazione, cioè subito dopo aver installato BiaB da solo, prima e dopo gli aggiornamenti messi a disposizione, prima e dopo le Realtracks, gli Add-On, ecc. ecc.
In sintesi: teoricamente dovrebbe poterti funzionare tutto, reinstallando senza preoccuparti dell'età dei file, però! l'imprevisto è sempre a portata di mano, come le incompatibilità occulte!
PG Music indica che BiaB può essere installato con determinati requisiti, a parer mio dovrebbero rivederli, li ritengo ormai troppo . . . "elastici"

ci avrei scommesso, e avrei vinto, che la prima risposta sarebbe stata la tua.
E' un vero piacere risentirti.
Tornando al problema, la situazione attuale è la seguente: sullo stesso pc, ovviamente in cartelle diverse (BB vers. 2013 e BB19 vers. 2019) ho entrambe le versioni che funzionano perfettamente ma non posso eseguire in '19 la maggior parte delle song in quanto associate a styli non presenti nella cartella. penserei di copiare gli styli, le RT e RD dalle omonime cartelle sub BB alle cartelle sub '19. Il problema è che la struttura ad albero è diversa, nel senso che in '19 le cartelle sono uniche, una STYLES una REAL-TRACKS e una REAL-DRUMS, senza alcuna sottocartella, mentre in BB ognuna delle predette cartelle contiene diverse sottocartelle dei diversi add-on e, in più direttamente sotto BB c'è una lunga serie di styli con i relativi demo.mgu.
Ho in mente un tentativo: trattare i dvd di istallazione come se fossero d'aggiornamento, cioè istallare '19 direttamente su BB, e vediamo che succede. Ti aggiorno.

La strada dell'aggiornamento cui accenni alla fine probabilmente è risolutiva se il programma d'installazione te lo consente. Al tuo posto però farei prima una copia (anche manuale, tipo copia e incolla) di tutti i file e relative cartelle, escludendo (per motivi di spazio, tempo e perché non ne vale la pena) le due cartelle contenenti RealTracks e RealDrums.
Giusto perché . . . non si sa mai!

Certamente, Sergio. Ho esattamente questo proposito: addirittura pensavo di fare la prova in un ambiente(hd esterno) in cui ho duplicato la cartella BB dopo essermi accertato che l'ambiente prova funzioni a dovere. Proverò il tutto nei prossimi giorni e ti terrò informato dell'esito.

Torno sull'argomento per informare chi fosse interessato sull'esito della prova descritta in precedenza: utilizzare i files d'installazione della vers. 2018 come se fossero dischi di aggiornamento da una vers. precedente. Devo dire che tutto è andato secondo le mie speranze: ho ottenuto un ambiente perfettamente allineato alla vers. 2018 con tutte le novità della relise e con tutti gli add-on che avevo caricato nelle versioni precedenti. E' chiaro che non ho avuto il tempo di sperimentare tutte le funzionalità ma, ad una prima impressione, devo dire di ritenermi soddisfatto. Sarà mia premura segnalare eventuali problematiche che dovessero evidenziarsi in seguito.
Grazie a chi ha seguito questo argomento e, sopratutto a Seranto, l'amico Sergio, che, come sempre, ha messo la sua più che notevole esperienza a disposizione di tutti.

Oltre al piacere di rileggerti su queste pagine, mi ha fatto piacere seguire il processo di soluzione del tuo problema.
Vedendo le risposte veloci di Sergio, non ho osato intervenire perché sarebbe stato ridondante.
Come al solito Sergio si è dimostrato il maggior supporter per gli appassionati vecchi e nuovi di questo meraviglioso programma.

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums.
