Glen,

For the majority of people, BIAB has installed fine. I suggest that you do not remove 2009.5. The usual principle is to simply install the latest edition straight over the top of the existing edition. This protects any custom styles, settings, etc., that you might have devised. I have been doing this for 4 years now and I've never had a problem.

The MOST important thing to do before installing is to read any readme files that might be on the DVDs. I also mention, that many of the problems related to installing have been USB-drive problems. Often it was because of failure to read the accompanying literature prior to attempting installation. The below point in the FAQ page might give some information.

I put 2010 on Vista a couple of weeks back and its worked like a dream.

If you are in doubt, just save a duplicate copy of your 2009.5 directory under another name (hard drive space permitting), before installing. Then you can easily delete the new installation if you need to.

Also, keep in mind that since you are on a 64-bit operating system, the VSC/DXi cannot install. If you wish to use a software synthesiser, you would need to get Forte DXi by Coyote. As you are running 2009.5 already, you are probably aware of this.

Regards,
Noel
