You can do this in piano roll but it will not reflect in the notation.
In editable notation mode you can do this by:
Depending on whether you simply want to shorten it or play it again from where it has been untied .
Insert a rest to shorten,
or a note to play again the new note will occupy the space between the insertion point and the next note or rest.

The inserted note must be on the same beat marker at the insertion point and the mono option (default) selected in the notation tool bar, this will allow you to move the inserted note up and down the stave should you want to change its pitch.
