Hi

How do I set up a song structure so that it follows this:

Intro
Verse 1
Chorus
Verse 2
Chorus
Bridge
Verse 3
Chorus
Ending

I just have have one long structure and do not know how to assign the bars for choruses, etc, so that the structure works properly. I do try to read Help, etc, but get lost!
Thanks
Nod

Nod, assuming the verses are the same, you could put a repeat after the first chorus, repeating to verse 1, and then put the rest of the song (starting with the bridge) in a tag. It's easy enough to use the Copy command to copy blocks of the song.

You can also do the whole song in one long chorus, as long as you don't exceed 255 measures.

So Matt, do I have this right;

BIAB only allows three "sections", 1) Beginning(Intro), 2) MIddle, and 3) End(tag).

So Nod can:

Put his intro in the first Section
Then put his Verse, Chorus in the second section, and play this twice.
Then put the Bridge, Verse, chorus, Ending in the final Section

That sounds right to me? Or as you suggest put it all into one long flow.

Hi Matt

I am pretty new to this and haven't used tags, etc, yet. I will give this a go. Thanks for your help.

Nod, yes, give it a try.

Dan, yes, that's right. Let's assume the intro is 8 bars. It is only played once, so the number for Beginning measure of chorus is 9. The Ending measure number is 9 plus the length of the verse and chorus. Then the number of repeats is 2. So yes, the Middle is repeated once, and the ending is everything else as a tag, starting with the bridge.

But it's perhaps easiest to make it one long song if it can all be done within 255 bars.

Hi Jazzmandan

I see what you're saying. I'll try this. I have done it as a long flow before but wondered if there was a better way.

Hi Dan

The intro is just 8. I will try it both ways. I'll learn more about the flexibility of the program.

For a newbie like me I found it much easier to enter the whole song in one long flow with copy and paste when needed. I had tried entering a song trying to figure out repeats, DC al FIne, etc and starting getting really frustrated. I found it much easier to enter it linearly; the color separated sections (A/B) make it easy to read.

it would be great if we could define parts with any name we like, and any length.

Verse
Chorus
bridge
middle 8
Solo
Tag
Ending
Quiet bit...8)

and then just tell BIAB which sections to play and what order.

How cool would that be?

Wiz

Hi nod,

For what it's worth, I do all my songs as a single chorus because it gives me much greater control over using A/B/C/D variations. Trying a few different approaches and then working out what works best for you, though, is the best way to go.

Regards,
Noel

I get the feeling doing it as a single chorus will be easier too - though I will experiment. Thanks for the responses.
