I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but the Nashville market has changed so much that it's virtually impossible to get publishers to listen to anything anymore. The reason is, honestly, that outside songs are rarely if ever recorded anymore (outside songs are those not written by the artist, the artist's producer, controlled by the artist's/label's publishing company, etc.) In the 90s when all of us here were making good money & getting lots of cuts, there were around 4,500 songwriters with publishing deals in Nashville (staff writers). That number is now less than 300, most of them being young writer-artists.

It's truly not a reflection on the quality of your work. It's a byproduct of the way the business has evolved. Goes to show that not all change is for the better.
