Silvertones,

I'd really like to know which product you select and why.

I've listened to many, many guitars VSTi demos over the years and it's not until recently that the demos have begun to sound realistic to my ears.

The strumming patterns in the Band-in-a-Box midi styles are excellent. I've always been impressed with how good the patterns are. But it has been a long climb for guitar VSTis to go from sounding like a poor emulation to sounding like a guitar. Now most guitar VSTis have a sound engine smart enough to automatically add many of the MIDI CCs needed to obtain realistic sound. It's like switching from a vehicle with a manual transmission to one with an automatic transmission. Like Band-in-a-Box it's getting easier to obtain the first 95 percent of a guitar track you desire but the last 5 percent still requires you, the user, to manually add the final touches.

To me the most difficult guitar playing technique to emulate with a VSTi is a string bend. Even in most demos the bend is performed too fast and the bend is too extreme.
