Hello. Sorry if this is posted already but I couldn't find anything on this in Search Forums.
I have a song in 4/4 in which I want to push a few chords here and there by 1/8 of a beat...primarily beats 4 of one measure followed by beat 1 in the next. All chords set up as pushes are playing on the beat (not 1/8 ahead of the beat).
I created the pushes two different ways...with ,^D to push on beat 4 followed by ^C on beat 1 of the following measure. I also used right click "chord settings" to set these up. Both measures leave me with pushes playing on the beat.
Is it possible the chosen style doesn't support pushes? (_FLKRK12 - Country/FolkRock w/12 String). The memo for this style doesn't say pushes are not supported
Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have. I fairly new to BiaB so maybe I'm missing something.
Marc

I can get that style to push sometimes, but BiaB doesn't always push where annotated. My understanding is that BiaB interprets a push as a held chord played early, which is what I sometimes hear on the strummed guitar. Other times I hear a held chord played on the beat. The notation view very infrequently appears to show a push, but mostly on the beat or silent. From the help menu, there are three conditions to getting pushes: 1. "Allow RealTracks Shot, Holds and Pushes" option is enabled in song settings. (Mine is, you should check) 2. RealTracks shots and holds files are installed. (I didn't check this, but since I'm hearing SOME pushes I must) 3. The Holds (H) column in the RealTracks Picker has a number. (I checked this for each instrument and there is a number for each) Welcome to BiaB! Am confident one of our gurus will come back with more helpful input. This is a great forum. Pushes have always been a perplexing feature to me, as I can almost never get them to either behave or sound musical. Am looking forward to cracking the secret of pushes with you.

primarily beats 4 of one measure followed by beat 1 in the next. It's not the style, Biab cannot do pushes like that. It's been asked for for years. The program considers that type of push to not be the "and after 4" of the previous measure, it's the "and before 1" of the current measure then you want to put the downbeat on 1. You can't have two chords on the same beat. It's the same in the middle of the bar like beat 3. You want to push it then put a the downbeat also on beat 3. Nope, can't be done. If you push beat 3 all you can do is put the next downbeat on 4. And yes I know lots of songs have that rhythm like Mercy, Mercy, Mercy for example. Biab can't do songs like that properly at least obviously, however... There is a workaround that involves expanding that bar to double time length or expanding the whole song to a double time length. That gets involved and complex which is why I never bothered with it but others can explain it in detail if you're interested. I do know that can work. Bob

Bob, I'm probably misunderstanding your post or the OP, but I can get this style to push on beats 4 and on the following beat 1, as well as on beat 3. https://www.dropbox.com/s/cf0nujdwrmm0nwo/Push%20demo.mp3?dl=0

Thanks DC Ron! I checked those settings and they were enabled. I unchecked them, clicked OK, then re-checked them and resaved. Still didn't help. Appreciate the tip on checking those settings because I had not done so until I read your post. Thanks again.

Thank you jazzmammal! I see what you're getting at. Hmmm, seems like a major deficiency. I'm going to try a few more things. If I have any success, I'll post here. Thanks again.

Here is an old thread that got resurrected last week that goes into somewhat confusing excruciating detail about this. More than 4 chords per measure? Bob
