I get an error message whenever I try to time shift the audio track by a negative amount. It is fine if I try to do it by a positive amount, but when I do it by a negative amount I get the message:
Access Violation at address 00AF1DEB in module 'btw.exe'. Read Address of 00000958.
Why is this? BIAB Help says it is possible to do it by a negative amount.
What is the point that you are trying to time shift from? Somewhere within the song, of from the start of the song?
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
I've tried both. The part I'm trying to shift starts at bar 5, so I've tried setting the shift to start at bar 5. But I've also tried setting it for the beginning of the song, with the same results.

I wonder could you confirm what version and build number you are using?
Also, is this in btw.exe? or another file?

I suspect the problem is that the audio file actually starts at the beginning of the song, and you can't move it back before the beginning of the file. Instead, I would probably load everything into RealBand (just select the BIAB file; it should also pick up the associated audio file). Then, you can instead cut out however much you want from the (most likely) silence at the beginning of the file and then slide the audio content to the left by that amount. Listen to it to make sure everything lines up. Save it back as a BIAB file (you may have to export that audio file with the same name as the BIAB file; not sure). Be sure to use different file names so as not to overwrite anything important.
Just a thought.

Ah, thanks John. That would make sense. So, if in future, I start recording on the audio track from bar two or three, that would mean I should be able to move the audio track back using time shift without any problem?
I'm using Band in A Box for Windows 2019, Build 625. The 32 Bit Version.
I'm not sure what btw.exe means. What is that?
Your original post stated: "Access Violation at address 00AF1DEB in module 'btw.exe'. Read Address of 00000958."
I don't have 2019 with me at present, but there is no btw.exe in the 2018 version of BiaB.

I searched my whole computer and there doesn't appear to be anything called btw.exe anywhere.
I wonder could you clarify.
When you entered the message in the original post:

did you type that in manually, or copy/paste it from an on screen message?

In theory, yes. In practice, I would just try it and see. Personally, I would just do the realignment in RealBand, as audio editing is much easier there (but I also am familiar with RealBand, so I realize there could be a learning curve).

I contacted PG and it turns out I've found a bug in the program. It should be possible to set a negative value in time shift, even when the audio starts at the beginning of the song. So hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Run into this same problem. Seems it's anew bug as I've been using timeshift before. Hope it gets fixed as with the bug BIAB is useless for audio recording due to recording delay...
Yes, the bug still hasn't been resolved in the latest build 2019 build 632:
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
The bug only happens if the Audio Edit window has not yet been opened in the current Band-in-a-Box session. So, the work-around is to open the Audio Edit window before doing the time shift.

You can shift any region of the song. If you choose to start from the very beginning, and shift a negative amount, it just deletes the beginning of the track.
Thanks Blake, it really is appreciated to get feedback from PGM that the issues are being recognized.
