Hi, friends !

Just came back from a trip
to Spain to look for a place
to spend my retirement days
when in need for sunny beaches
warm water and a most mellow
climate !

This little surf tune was ment to be my
last but who knows ??? if I´ll get
a place to stay down there and my
voice doesn´t fade too much then.....?

In any case here is SURFIN´DAN
That crazy surfer who just can´t
stop surfin´???

http://soundcloud.com/user-337827005/surfin-dan

The Style is SURFSWP.STY
and the instros are: bass: 1844, piano: 1549, Drums: RD:S surf pop swing, Guitar: 2427
String Quartet: 2452 and Vocal AAhs: 3063

....and here are the lyrics:

SURFIN DAN (Music and Lyrics by Norman Wibe)

Time to pick out our moldy boards
and to strike some newfound chords
time again for a surfin´spree
myomee, oh, my darlin´

They´ve been hangin´there for all too long
without use they will all go wrong
we have to go now babe, don´t you see

Let´s go far and wide away
find the beach we wanna stay
okay, stay okay

There´we´ll be just ridin´on
thru the day, every dusk and dawn
let´s have fun so surf along all the way
darlin´darlin´

If this´s the last time I´ll ever go
I wanna go in style you know
over monster waves out on the bay

Everyone now join me in my quest
or go ahead with all the rest
there´s just one way to be
just one way to become the best

I´ve got nuthin´to prove at all
doesn´t matter if I stand or fall
everyone will remember surfin´Dan
ooooooo
everyone will remember surfin´Dan

Recorded with mixcraft 8 pro, reverb used

Cheers
Dani

Hi Dani,

Wow! I get to be the first to comment. That's very unusual. I'd better make it count laugh

You definitely have a flair for surf-music projects. As I was listening, I tried to work out how you managed to produce such an authentic surf sound. I think it's a combination of choosing the right instruments, choosing the right groove and being musically talented enough to record a few vocal harmonies in the style of the Beach Boys. You tick ALL the right boxes on these fronts.

I enjoyed the journey... again! I've just got back from a beach holiday and you make me feel like I want to go back! I hope that you and Li had a wonderful holiday.

All the best,
Noel

"everyone will remember surfin´Dan"

HA! Love that, Dani!

Your best Beach Boys sound yet...

I hope you will be getting a board and hitting the waves when you retire to those sunny beaches...

What a tune! Love the harmonies and upbeat vibe on this. It would be hard to hear this and not feel uplifted. It's so catchy, and you nailed the mix on it. Sounds professional and concise.

Thanks for sharing smile

'dani48'...

I've been away from the Users' forum for a spell, but I'd know that silky, teen-dream, heavenly harmonized falsetto voice anywhere !!! cool

The 'beach' sound you wrought from your Real Tracks picks was right 'on the wave' laugh . The vocal ahhhs were retro-perfect. And your key changes were unexpected and exhilarating because of it.

I think it's possible and perfectly sensible to expect that musicians would locate a particular era of music as the one that lives most deeply in their soul, and it's not too difficult to guess where your's is: the 50's and 60's, am I right? Let me know, won't you?

Any old way, I doubt if retirement is going to stifle, or subdue your music composing output. Based on what you related to us about your trip to Spain, you'll be too close to the "sunny beaches, warm water and a most mellow climate!" to suffer any diminishment of your creative powers, so don't worry us with threats of 'Surfin' Dan' being your last contribution to the Users' Forum -- we won't let you wean us off the bottle THAT easily !!! laugh

Oh, yeah...I meant to tell you that the lyrics were the very definition of the word 'care-free', and so much so that you may be responsible for some of us quitting our jobs to go to Spain with you...

Surf on, 'dani48'!

Hey Dani,

Good to see you with a new one! You rule the surf genre on this site, no question about that!

Nice work on this.

Spain! That is on our list of places to visit now that we are both retired. Next year maybe!

Hi Dani,

This had a very positive Beach Boys and Jan and Dean vibe but that is not surprising as you have master the surf sound! You did an excellent job on this one my friend.

Just remember if you get to old to surf on the ocean you can always surf on the Internet!
