Come With Me (Soundcloud) I was working on a track for a remix competition and I got a backing track I liked but didn't work with the vocal stems. So I decided to put my own lyrics to them and see if it worked. I'm pretty happy with the results although I still have a long way to go with the recording and mixing process. I only used a couple of RealTracks which I used as a base to work the other samples around. I was trying to come up with something a bit more modern-sounding and, while I liked the RealStyle, none of the synth tracks quite worked for what I was going for. Although, to be fair, I'm not too sure how well I succeeded with making it a modern sounding song! I used JJP Vocals, Waves AudioTrack and Noveltech Vocal Enhancer on the vocals alongside pitch correction with Waves Tune. I used Waves Doubler on the backing vocals and Studio One Pro EQ and Room Reverb across all tracks. _INIBIZA.STY. Richard the sounds are fine - not cutting edge contemporary but not old. Your lyrics are fine too. Vocally you've produced a nasal & flat performance: the sort that was in vogue during Bronksi Beat's hit zone but I think you may a little too nasal & flat. The guitar seems to be playing against the key of the song occasionally. A little tweaking should bring these up to scratch. Perhaps you could find someone on the forum to collab with and get a vocal that really suits.

I always enjoy listening to your songs - you've got a very upbeat dance sensibility that comes through, and it's fun to listen. It's nice to hear your vocals in a more "natural" form, instead of heavily processed and distorted. And while it's bad form to complain about someone's vocals, in my defense for what follows, I'll say that rayc started it. I could be wrong here, but I suspect that nasal sound comes from trying to sound like someone else, instead of sounding like yourself. If not... it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong! In any event, I enjoyed the song, which is really the only important bit.

Thanks for your feedback rayc and David. You always give really useful feedback whether positive or constructive. I do appreciate the feedback on the vocals as I haven't sang for years (except for on karaoke) and I know they need to improve.
I think I may have used a bit too much eq in the midrange and accentuated the nasal sounds. In the performance I was trying to lose the bass-y sound in my voice (that's the only way I can explain it) which I don't think would suit this song and that might have produced that sound. I'll play about with the EQ later and see if that was causing the sound or it was mainly the performance of it.
Collaborating with other people would be great but I'm not too sure how to go about that.

liked the feel of this and the theme/style, using too much of this or that is experimental and to be sure its what recording/song writing is all about.
There is no set standard and no set way to sing if there was.. well it would be pretty boring and dare I say it all the same..!¬!
Rod Stewart was once told his voice sounded too strained to make a recording artist so !!.
All the best.
Thanks

Nicely done Really unique, and simultaneously catchy and also a bit of a head-scratcher. Whatever you did it worked tremendously well. Really innovative use of the RealTracks. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers, Deryk

Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to listen.
I know I definitely need to work on my singing. But I do like the anecdote about Rod Stewart. I was always told that it's sometimes better to have a unique but average voice than a good one which isn't memorable. Although I still kinda wish I'd had these tools when I left college and had just had two years worth of singing lessons!

For future consideration step one would be to back away from the microphone - "proximity effect" is the enhancement of bass response due to closeness to the mic. EQing vocals is difficult. Maybe consider the original "subtractive" approach 1st: that is to gently & slowly remove what offends rather than boost what doesn't. What mic are you using? That may have some significance as well.

Richard, Interesting tune. Almost like a modern revival of early 90s, which seems popular these days. Sure worth further working on it. I read comments by Ray(rayc) and by David (dcuny). I agree on what they said. Here are 3 cents from me. I took a couple of master classes with local Jazz singer about a year ago. She showed me how to hold the head right, how to breathe and what not to do....But the most valuable point she gave, and that is echoing David's point, is to try finding your inner voice. Something you are comfortable with. It is an ongoing challenge for me, but that tip was priceless. Seems you are know your plugins. Try to find a demo of "Breath Controller" to suppress inhales / exhales. Of course you can do that manually, but plugin does save time. I believe vocals would sound cleaner. and a final cent. Pop filter. Couple of weeks back, I posted this topic: https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=555125#Post555125I am a big fan of that thing

I do think I do need to look at a different mic. I'm using a Blue Snowball at the moment which I know isn't the best. I'm looking at investing in another one in the new year.
Thanks for that feedback Rustyspoon. I will keep working on it and I do need to work on my voice. I'm considering getting some lessons but I need to find a good singing teacher! I'll have a look at breath controller. I think I had the microphone a bit too close because I was using that same equipment (rayc linked me to your post, thanks for the recommendation!)

Liked the groove - nice arrangement and production. Your song submissions are always a bit different than the norm and that is a good thing. Enjoyed the listen.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
