The only difference in sound will be from the output of the sound system. The AC/97's have a good sounding wave engine. So you really shouldn't hear any difference. Where you may run into trouble is latency. When I tried using it my music was all out of sync when I recorded. Once I installed my SB Live card everything sounded perfect.

There is a possibility that the newest versions of BIAB and Real Band have better syncronizing abilities. Seems like that was mentioned in the last beta we did.

BTW you should be able to use your SBLive card if it's the 7.7 surround version. May have to upgrade the drivers but I'm sure Creative has 'em available. If not then you could use the KX project drivers. It's an awesome program. Kinda clunky the last time I used it but super good for recording. The only drawback is the 7.7 surround isn't compatible with KX. If you are using 5.1 then it should work fine.
