Sipping Whiskey in the Rain...Brilliant title I knew this was going to be good,
This is pure class lyrics, instruments, vocals and the arrangement are all classic old school, the way music was done back then.
Someone mentioned a Mr cash, it does have that sound although to me this is somewhat unique.
This definitely would have been a hit , honestly keep singing that hook ..Sipping Whiskey in the Rain, since I played this.
Thanks

The steel was worth the price of admission. How cool is that? Very!
Old time country is right in our wheelhouse so this was a lot of fun.
Always amazed at your instrumental performances Mario and having a fine vocal is a nice addition.
A big ole Georgia shoutout to the two of you!

Sipping Whiskey in the Rain
My friend SteveS writes excellent Christian poetry Mario, I can't lie. I was going to listen to your song either way but seeing the title then THIS had me wondering all kinds of things! Very cool song all the way around. I always enjoy your songs; and this was no exception. Thanks for bringing this to the showcase. You never disappoint! ...and I'm still wondering all kinds of things. Like, how do you play lap steel with a midi controller? It sounds GREAT, however you are doing it! Thanx for listening and those very nice comments. With this lap steel VSTi, http://indiginus.com/the_steel.htmlit is very easy to do what I did. If I can do it anyone can do it!
OK, a random thought; Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

Fun tune. With a title like that, it's hard to go wrong. I'm curious which VSTi you used for the pedal steel. I'm asking because I've so far been able to resist buying the Indiginus electric steel, because BiaB already has lots of excellent steel guitars. But listening to that sweet sound in your song isn't helping my resolve. Thanx Dave. The VSTi is http://indiginus.com/the_steel.htmlIt is simple to use but has an excellent sound and GUI. What I like about it over RTs, although RTs are excellent, is that I can get this to play what I want when I want. It is excellent for melodies plus there are a few different lap steel sounds that come with this. If a MIDI user likes lap steel this is a nobrainer IMHO.

'MarioD' & 'Steve'...
I could hear the raindrops drumming on the roof as I listened to Sipping Wiskey in the Rain. The sad melody was instantly memorable, which I strongly credit Steve for because of the authentic-sounding regret and resignation in his voice.
That lap steel performance pulled on my heart-strings as much as Steve's vocal did! And the music? It's like the sound of memories from earlier, happy days.
LOREN (a.k.a. 'bluage') I glad that you liked this one Loren.

Thanks Thanx. I tried for that old school live bar setting sound. I agree with a previous post in that I think this has a more Willie sound than a Johnny Case sound. YMMV

Mario, love that classic country willie vibe. It boggles my mind that you can get that steel sound with a wind controller. Kudos, you guys - much enjoyed.

Mario and Steve,
What a great production. Everything about this demonstrates a quality country ballad.
The mix is really well done, the breaks fit in perfectly to give variety and lift to the song.
Great effort, no question and you delivered.

Nice melody that's easy to remember. Although the lyrics are sad, the steel gives the song a sunny lining. Nice chording in the bridge. Enjoyable interpretation.

Sounds good, Mario! I especially like the steel guitar. Amazing that you can get that sound with a VSTi and a midi keyboard!

Mario, This has such a great old country feel- lyrics, vocals and arrangement all work. First time I`ve heard a pedal steel sound created like that- very authentic and really showcases the fine melody. Well done to you both!
