I'm currently working with BiaB v2017, but I presume v2019 is the same.
So I'm working on a tune of mine that has 5 RealTracks, when suddenly I notice that three of the RealTracks have been replaced by these Orange colored instruments, labeled Artist 1, Artist 2, and Artist 3. What? I try another style, wondering what's happened to the one I was using, and same thing with another style I try. And another. Either 2 or 3 of the RealTracks have been replaced by these Artist tracks. Now I notice that, when I click on the track info, and when asked about RealTracks that it reveals the original RealTrack numbers. And they sound the same. Well, that's a relief. But why these new Artist tracks at all? I try a seach through Help, but I couldn't find anything related to this.
As long as these tracks don't affect my mix, I don't care what they call themselves, but I am curious about this.

Interesting question, Michael. I haven't seen this.
Perhaps I just don't use the same styles as you. What is an example that we can test?

Yes, they're RealTracks that have been renamed to Artist 1, Artist 2, and so on.
Matt, I can provide you with any number of styles -- that all used to just have RealTracks but now have Artists instead of some of the RealTracks. So I don't think it would do much good to give you examples. They'll most likely show up as styles with RealTracks on your machine.

Have you moved your realtracks/realdrums directories recently? Maybe BIAB cannot find the correct tracks.

Those are artist performance tracks, they will only appear on demos that we make, or songs that you make intentionally. Essentially, if you have a song called “mySong.sgu” you can just make an audio file called
MySong <trackname>.wav
E.g. MySong Piano.wav Would play that track for the piano track.
And it will play instead of the expected track. For us, it is useful if we want a demo that has multiple tracks of custom audio material, and for users it would be the same thing. You can convert a track to an artist performance trac, which is similar to freezing it, only better, as its a “deep freeze” that assures that this exact wav file would play, regardless if those real tracks are found on the PC that plays the file.
For example, if you want to make a BB file to send to your friend, and he doesn’t have many RealTracks, send him a song with artist performance tracks and he will hear the exact tracks.

Thanks for the explanation Peter. I've been sharing a few songs with a friend. And I have a few user styles that I've created, so I just send him the styles with the songs. I'll have to digest your post so I make sure I fully understand what you've written.

Thanks for the explanation Peter very helpful.
Tried this today on a track that used one of the vocal styles that don’t come as standard, and also one of the 9 part horns.
As I wanted to share this with someone that only had the Pro version.
Worked like a dream, nice function thanks.

It is a good thread.
I have never considered using the audio track IN BIAB because I always just take everything into a DAW. But only yesterday I was thinking it would be nice to have two more MIDI tracks to make a horn arrangement to go with my Melody and Soloist tracks, AND STILL STAY IN BIAB where I like to experiment. The answer is obvious now: make an audio track of my Melody and Soloist, clear those tracks, and use them for the other horns. Not a new trick by any means, just a realization of how to use what has long been there already. Thanks.

My brother Charlie advocated in multiple posts the technique of using the audio track to bounce track, convert the bounced audio to an artist performance track, move the artist performance track to an instrument track and repeat as needed. I don't believe many users caught what he was saying.
This is one of those techniques that because it uses an underused feature (artist performance) and takes so many steps the technique needs a video demonstration.

Oh, I caught it. Terrific tip. The reason it works, as he stated, is that you don’t have degradation making digital copies like we used to have with analog methods like bouncing to tape with sound on sound.
