Hi Guitarhacker,

This is a countrysong as should be. Especially those 'hillbilly-vocals'. Like that.
A bit a pitty the lyrics were not available, but I can figure out what was the topic.
Very nicely done,

Hans

Now that's country. The stuff you hear on the radio today, you'd almost think you're listening to a rock station. This is good stuff!!

'guitarhacker'...

First things, first: I felt as though as I was in the recording studio as I listened to Old Tin Roof. The track's got tons of 'presence', because of the clarity of the instruments. They sounded like they were all around me! That bass felt like it was coming up out of the ground. That's how deep and resonant it was.

'guitarhacker', your guitar playing makes the Real Tracks sound even better than they already are!

'Danny'...you sing so sweet 'n' laid-back, and the women's voices behind your vocal track you are so fresh and harmonious, that the experience of hearing the song seems much shorter than the track's actual length of 4:35 on SoundCloud.

WHOA!!! Wait a minute. Lemme back up a minute -- did I just read that 'guitarhacker' performed the 'BGV'??? I thought it was women! Doesn't matter -- the harmonizing is as fine as an endless supply of good wine, good food, and good friends.

The lyrics tell a lovely story about people in a particular place, at a particular time, and how they lived and loved each other.

This song would probably please anybody who listened to it -- it's that entertaining, professionally performed and presented, and memorable. I listened to it four times as I wrote this comment, and I won't be forgetting it any time soon...

Just beautiful,

LOREN (a.k.a. 'bluage')

I added the lyrics to the SC post.... but.....

I was born in the country in a house that was old and gray.
We had an old porch across the front and that's where we sat all day
We worked real hard in the sun and we don't have nothing to prove
We'd lay in bed and we'd sleep at night and hear the rain on our old tin roof

Night time fell my mom and dad would lay us down to rest
My mom would smile and tell us boys now don't forget to say your prayers
My dad would wink and point outside and say you know what to do.
Lay your head down and close your eyes and hear the rain on an old tin roof

Because things were so much different then, we always had something to do.
We'd lay in bed and sleep at night and wake up to the morning dew
I'll always remember what my poppa said he said you know what to do.
Lay your head down and close your eyes and hear the rain on an old tin roof

solo

Time passed on, I grew up and I knew I would have to go
I traveled around this great big world but I knew I'd have to come back home.
I met a little girl and we fell in love, bought us a brand new house
It has a new porch across the front and we know what love is all about
Because we work real hard in the sun and we don't have nothing to prove.
We lay in bed and we love at night and hear the rain on our new tin roof

Because things were so much different then, we always had something to do.
We'd lay in bed and sleep at night and wake up to the morning dew
I'll always remember what my poppa said he said you know what to do.
Lay your head down and close your eyes and hear the rain on an old tin roof

Danny and I played a ton of old Haggard and Jones and yeah... we grew up on old country and made a living doing it. (back in the day)

Bwahahahahaha... women's voices.... yep, that's me back there. I can sling some solid falsetto and when positioned correctly in the mix....... well, you heard it.

The Bass, yep, again, that was mentioned in another place where this was posted as well. That LA hard rock bass is pretty awesome. Not only in how it sounds with the proper EQ and compression but in the notes it plays as well. Lots of cool stuff in that bass line.
Clarity of the instruments. Don't crowd them. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. One at a time.

Thanks for the great review of this song.

Another winner, lyrically this comes off like the masculine version of Dolly Parton's In My Tennessee Mountain Home. Loved the vocal and everything around it.

It sounds really good.
You blended the human input with the BIAB stuff really well.
I was a little confused by the internal contradiction in the 1st verse...
"We had an old porch across the front and that's where we sat all day
We worked real hard in the sun and we don't have nothing to prove"
but it's a country song so just went with it after the 2nd listen.

Cheers

Sounds great. Love the instruments tucked into the mix - really nice.

The drums drive the song along, and the vocals nail the classic country sound.

Very enjoyable listen! laugh

As David Allen Coe once said (I think it was him), "If that ain't country you can kiss my a$$!"

Nice write, vocals, guitar and use of those BiaB pickers.

Enjoyed it.
